Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski showed glimpses of his former dominance as he stormed to victory in last night's ZOTAC Cup with wins over Anton "Cooller" Singov (
demo) and Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira. The Serious-Gaming player has failed to make his mark so far in QuakeLive but this victory coupled with rumours of a more intense practice regime in recent weeks might just mark the young Pole out as one of the favourites at Dreamhack later this month.
Other notable attendees included the eventual winner's Serious-Gaming teammate Adrien "burnedd" Denis, Excello's Pelle "fazz" Söderman and fnatic's Kevin "strenx" Baeza. The latter was defeated two maps to one by "Cooller" in a rematch of the sixth ZOTAC Cup final and although the Russian has now failed to take the top spot in both cups, he will take heart from his consistent high placings despite ping issues.
Quakecon finalist Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira might not be so pleased however, despite taking a top four spot here. The Swede has failed to live up to expectations since crashing out in the group stages at the Extreme Masters Dubai and fears persist that he has been overtaken by his more experienced rivals since his strong early form in QuakeLive. Online results count for nothing when it comes to LAN though and "Spart1e" will be fired up to prove his critics wrong on home soil at Dreamhack.
Signups for the eighth ZOTAC Cup next Sunday are already underway and can be found
