AEF: Preview Rage Gaming vs YoYoTech

RAGE Gaming and YoYoTech hand us a match that will play a big role on the way they enter the play-offs and whether or not they will have a long run in them. The difference between top 24 or top 8 sometimes comes down to a couple of rounds.

RAGE Gaming are a team of Dutch excellence, but that has not meant all too much in recent times and the team has struggled to solidly break through into the top 8 in Europe. YoYoTech, on the other hand, have always been thought to be amongst the best in Europe but have had similar problems translating those claims into bankable results, losing to teams when they were considered to be the far better line-up.

The match will deliver a strong prize for the winner and a bad route for the losers, with some of the tournament's ultimate favourites doing bad during their group stages and this has created for a very one-sided bracket.

RAGE Gaming has strong individual skill and this is looking like a true match-up in clashing styles, with the aim style against the tactical style. Team coherence will often trump the aim card and in that regard, YoYoTech will have a leg up against their Dutch companions.

If a map gets chosen that suits aggressive and fast play, for example mp_crash, that should give the RAGE Gaming side a strong option on the win, given they take the map by storm and try to fly out of the gate, immediately creating a gap between both teams. When YoYoTech are put in a comeback situation, they will need to play more aggressive and risky to force the rounds in their favour, and that is the play they are not used to play.

YoYoTech are a calculated team that wants to control the pace of the game and on maps like mp_backlot, that is very possible because you can use a variety of styles to switch your game up and make the opponent wary, but on other maps, there is often just one style that will get you rounds and it all comes down to who is the better executor between them.

I am feeling in an upset mood and therefore going to put my vote on the YoYoTech team. It should turn out to be one of the more unpredictable matches of the group stage and could really go either way. If RAGE Gaming play their aggressive game well, then it could be a white-wash for the Dutchmen.
