AEF: Preview Fragmasters vs Iuro

Posted by Bob Bcrbo Van de Voorde on 2010-07-30 10:30:13
The first interesting match of the day will be a match-up between the hopefully next British prodigy and a Dutch-Belgian mix team that just assembled its line-up some weeks ago.

Fragmasters feature some players of the highly successful TCM-Gaming line-up of last year and other prominent British players. The least experienced name in the team is Chris "stylez" Hart and even he has acted as a stand-in for several teams at LAN. The team is spearheaded by the former Team-Dignitas player, Mark "Mark" Horner and was founded just a month ago.

The team should do well and are, in my eyes, a shoe-in for a top 3 placement in the UK, but a lot will depend on how seriously they still take the game. Most of the team are seasoned gamers and have already been at the very top of Call of Duty 4 for a period of time and in that regard, they might just be attending to relax and experience the LAN atmosphere. Should they, however, take the game seriously, the match between Iuro and Fragmasters should be a done deal before it started.

Iuro themselves had a set line-up until a month ago when they hit a snag and needed to allocate two new players to complete the line-up again. They found two Belgians to work with, and although they have proven themselves to be adequate players, they will need the randomness of mix to offset the Brits and possibly walk away with a win.

That some of the team's players had a rough first and second night in Antwerp, might hinder their performances and should give Iuro the advantage. All in all, I am giving this match in favour of the British, simply because of their superior LAN experience and they will have just played a match to warm-up their hands and mice as well.
