It seems as if search.ORG are so careless with their games that they can only perform when they are playing the arguably far superior opponents. The same happened with two of their Group Stage games at SAGE and the same happened here, where they played their best versus LowLandLions and failed miserably against the other teams.
search.ORG won the knife and took the attacking side of mp_backlot, with Michael "BounTy" Zigmund starting off well with a three man on A with both the AK47 and AK74 he picked up, sending a clear message to LowLandLions that they cannot take this win for granted. When another quick push towards A was successful for search.ORG, the Brits were typing busily to tweak some of their nades and tactics.
LowLandLions wo nthe next round, but you can't really attribute that to these tweaks, as David "ono" McConnell picked up four people near middle with his AK47 and gave LowLandLions' first round. But even though Chris "nreo" Mead almost picked up a 1on4, the momentum still lied with the Germans who seem to go very aggressive in either middle or A to pick up rounds.
This was noticed by LowLandLions' B players who'd push up more frequently now, giving them two rounds to tie up the game early on. They then continued to trade rounds for a bit, but all in all, search.ORG were stepping up individually to such an extent that they headed into the second half with a 07 - 05 lead. Especially Felix "spooN" Schwarzlose was using his SMG very effectively around the A bomb site and was frequently seen annoying the hell out of Thomas "cHoObiE" Mead with his spam through the walls.
With their lead, they took that focus and maintained it for the first few rounds, with Mahmud "SP33D" El Elter getting in some interesting frags in middle house and Michael "BounTy" Zigmund used his AK47 very well on tin or middle or even A gurders against the attacking LowLandLions players. When the they finally pushed B, the British team managed to secure one round but couldn't manage to get any closer and kept trailing the Germans.
LowLandLions then chose to not spread out so much anymore and opted for coordinated pushes towards either A or B to give them some rounds and it finally seemed to do the trick. The game was soon tied at 10 - 10 each and either still could end up winning, if they made one final push. At first LowLandLions seemed to have finally taken the upperhand in the final moments and had secured match point first.
It all came down to Chris "nreo" Mead, though, who was left alone on the attack when his team mates died because of nades in the beginning. He managed to get two of his opponents in the 1on3, but failed to get the final kill in time, losing the round and the winning points. 12 - 12, final score.
All in all, search.ORG showed everyone far too late what they were truly capable of at this event, but you cannot do anything but blame the team itself when they decided to go out on the town for the entire night before their biggest LAN. They sat down drunk and gave up unexpected losses to sFi and AETAS, whilst they were the only team that could come close to taking LowLandLions down. Although that could have something to do with the fact that LowLandLions were unaware of mp_backlot being the Germans' best map.
