ACM: LowLandLions Fly Past cHaos eSports

The game that started on LowLandLions' map and seemed to become a real thriller, ended up with LowLandLions going to town on the cHaos players on cHaos eSport's map, mp_crossfire, and becoming the easiest looking Quarter Final we have seen all day.

With the game starting on mp_strike and cHaos eSports winning the knife to decide defence first, it was Patrick "PATZ" Peuler who started the game off well by immediately getting a couple of SMG frags near mid and on B finally. But then the first half fell into the rhythm it would stick for all coming 12 rounds. The teams were trading and trading as if you couldn't believe it. The momentum and pace of the game constantly switched hands and as soon as you'd expect LowLandLions or even cHaos eSports to run away with it, some action or push of the opposing team the following round would bring the score right on back again.

This continued with Marc "vazy" Berthold and Miles "miles" Rauch having some strong rounds, with the Frenchman locking down mid house on a couple of occasions and miles picking off frags when cHaos eSports could use them most. But on the other side of the table, you'd have Jasko "cozje" Berbic and Thomas "cHoObiE" Mead who'd use their SMGs quite well when they pushed for the A site.

The nades that LowLandLions is so known for on this map, were not as effective as you'd like to believe, as both Patrick "PATZ" Peuler and Marco "DUFFY" Mayer were seen getting into A nearly every round, without being hindered by anything. Yet through some creative splits and B fakes, they'd manage to draw the round advantage their way and end up getting the plant on the A bombsite. This is why you saw LowLandLions end up with the most rounds after the half, going into the second half with a 07 - 05 score.

Something snapped in the cHaos eSports team in the beginning of the second half, or they lacked focus or something, but they let LowLandLions increase the lead even further, putting them right below the double digits and with the ease of mind that things were working out for them. cHaos eSports were not getting into the A bomb site quickly enough and even though they did not die by nades that often, they had to face an on-fire Jasko "cozje" Berbic who would pick up loads of kills to swing the balance over to the Lions.

cHaos eSports still had some fight left in them on mp_strike, wanting to give them a good game and knowing that they had what it takes to win the game as well. Patrick "PATZ" Peuler proved his status as the most solid player of cHaos another time when he'd get three frags in pushing for the bomb site. Soon after, it was up to Kevin "lopezz" Munder and Marc "vazy" Berthold to get two frags each in a round, making the fifth frag nothing but a formality. Before you knew it, the score board read 10 - 11 again and you couldn't help but wonder LowLandLions were giving it away a bit.

The thoughts hadn't left my mind yet, before LowLandLions tweaked their nades near A again and managed to get the early push stopped and when it was up for Declan "germaine" Elcocks to start his near-static picking in middle, the cHaos team saw no way to enter the bomb site again and were just sitting ducks near overlook. The final round of the game had a similar run of events, as cHaos eSports failed to push into the A spot together, pushing in too scattered, giving the defending players of LowLandLions easy pickings when they came through Café and the main entrance. 13 - 10 was the final score and LowLandLions would now move to mp_crossfire, with some of the players looking a bit worried about how that'd go.

If there is one word that I dislike most about eSports, it's this malarkey with "keenness". Yet, if there is one word I'd have to choose on how to describe LowLandLions' defence on mp_crossfire, it's the only word I could come up with. They were the masters of control when it came to playing their spots and not venturing out too much, it's as if they knew that cHaos eSports would be looking and waiting for the Brits to peek and have a look. When LowLandLions didn't do that, they'd start looking for the shots themselves, which is when the Brits were in the tactically more superior spots and could just click their mouse button to get the kills quite easily. The minds of cHaos eSports were surely filled with question marks about how they were seeing this lead become bigger and bigger, without getting close to a round.

Even when cHaos eSports managed to get the numeral advantage and get the opening kills, LowLandLions would time their retakes of the bombsites perfectly, keeping the right nades for the right moments and having Declan "germaine" Elcocks sit in Kebab with practised prefire that saw him rack up a few kills here and there. When the LowLandLions team was not prefiring the bombs, you would not see them. Anywhere. David "ono" McConnell was the only player who'd seek for shots, especially in the beginning, as he had noticed some of cHaos eSports' smokes were failing and this opened up half of the street for counter-fire of the Scottish scope. Giving him this much room is always a dangerous thing and he'd quickly manage to get a couple of cross shots, which angered the cHaos eSports players.

Luckily they had one more ace up their sleeve, although it looked like it they conjured it up right on the spot. The few rounds that cHaos eSports managed to secure were the ones where they'd have both Marco "DUFFY" Mayer and one or two more players push early through basement to the A house and just sit over in top. This served as a distraction for the LowLandLions defenders who were now expecting them to go for an A push. Yet, at the same time, the bomb was moving to the B spot all the time and this gave them the time and cover to get the bomb down without it being noticed.

This only alternative didn't give them too many rounds, though, as they'd have to be satisfied with a mere four to close out the half and with LowLandLions now moving over to the arguably easier attacking side, I had already called the win for the Brits at this point.

I did so because I saw nothing on the cHaos team that made me believe they still knew how to face this team, they had started bickering and even when it is true that they were becoming extremely unlucky in landing their shots, they didn't seem to know what to do to counter the LowLandLions team as a unit.

Couple that with Chris "nreo" Mead who'd go beserk in the opening rounds of their attack by just rushing down the street and taking over the A house within 15 seconds of the round being played. You could nearly bet your house on the fact that he would have the opening round and usually within seconds, a second kill popped up on the kill feed as well. Going into the attack with a 5on3 advantage and nobody from A house being around to prefire the bomb, made it extremely easy for LowLandLions to get the bomb down and pick up the frags when they needed them most. Thanks to some well-timed nades, the cHaos eSports team came to a 05 - 12 score, but you could be damn sure that LowLandLions were not going to let this lead slip away from them.

13 - 05 was the final score on mp_crossfire and you can see an entirely different LowLandLions team compared to their draw to search.ORG yesterday. They were loud, cheering and very communicative, giving them the ingenuitity to adapt to the other teams and Team WinFakt! will need to bring their best game if they want to take LowLandLions down.
