| Andries after the final |
Just three days ago, last Saturday, two members of our FIFA09 team travelled to Brussels, Belgium to participate in the grand final of EA Sports Cup.
Andries "Dries" Smit played his way up to the finals and was one of the favorites to win it while
Ludwin "Quest" De Bruijn was going to play in the NBA 09 Live tournament.
The FIFA09 tournament featured two groups of four players each and Andries didn't have much difficulties finishing first in his group. Eventually he found himself playing in the overall final against
Sandro who didn't stand much of a chance. Andries finished him off with a 6-1 score which secured him a 40 inch LCD TV by Samsung, Xbox Elite pack, EA sports games and Xbox Live for one year. Unfortunately he wasn't able to top the overall leaderboard which means he didn't receive VIP tickets to a Championship League match.
Ludwin was also able to reach the finals in the NBA tournament but lost it just barely. At first he learnt that the game was going to be 4x 12min not 4x 2min which made the players eventually become tired. After 45 minutes and a few mistakes, he was 21 points behind until a power cut postponed the game for an hour. He then managed to spurt a nine point lead but in ended the game trailing by 11 points; 211-200. Ludwin didn't win any goods but he got a three day ticket to visit the USA alongside his girlfriend and attend any NBA match of his choice.
USA here i come.
And Dries, gl watching the Championsleague finals on your new TV.
Thanks to EA and Media markt for giving us such a great tournament.
