The first edition of the €3,000 ESL Call of Duty 4 Summer Cup Series has officially come to an end with SPEED-LINK taking down KomaCrew in the June Grand Final.

Going through the Upperbracket undefeated with victories over roYalty eSports, KomaCrew and eSuba, the Germans met up with iPowergames finalist KomaCrew once more in the Grand Final.

After a clear 13 to 8 win in the Upperbracket, SPEED-LINK got off to a bad start in the Grand Final and lost the first map on mp_crossfire 10 to 13. However, coming from the Lowerbracket, KomaCrew needed 2 maps to win and both sides moved on to play a deciding map: mp_backlot.

As the tension rose, both teams kept exchanging rounds and things were starting to look good for the Dutch team, who were able to take a 11 to 10 lead with only a few rounds to be played. SPEED-LINK replied, taking two consecutive rounds to bring the German team to matchpoint, 12-11. The final round however went to KomaCrew and both teams went into overtime to decide the eventual winner. In the end KomaCrew did not pull through and SPEED-LINK came out victorious with a 4-2 score in overtime.

With the Summer Cup June edition coming to and end, ESL has revealed the various qualifiers for the €1,000 Summer Cup July, with the first one kicking off tomorrow evening.

Similar to the June edition, the €1,000 prizepot for July is distributed in the following way:

1. €500
2. €300
3. €200

For the teams interested in participating: the July Summer Cup final will feature 8 teams. There are four ways to qualify, either by entering in one of the three Summer Cup qualifiers (32 team quick cups.
