After going through the tournament undefeated, Team SPEED-LINK has been crowned the ESL Major Series Season II champions, defeating fnatic in an exiting two-mapper.

Not having lost a single map, SPEED-LINK took on CDC4 champions fnatic in tonight's Grand Final. fnatic had been able to fight their way through the Lowerbracket after losing their first Upperbracket game against LowLandLions and had their revenge, defeating the Benelux team 16 to 13 in overtime in the consolation final.

Starting off on mp_citystreets, fnatic managed to secure 5 rounds on the difficult attacking side before heading into the second half, after being down 1-5. Despite SL putting up a decent fight, fnatic did not give away their advantage and took the first map with a score of 13 to 10.

With fnatic needing two maps to win (coming from the Lowerbracket), both teams went on to play SPEED-LINK's mapchoice, mp_backlot. Starting off as marines, SL quickly picked up the pace, resulting in a 8-4 lead going into the second half. After winning the first half quite comfortably, SL did not look back and secured their first place in the ESL Major Series II with a 5-2 lead in the second half, defeating fnatic with an overall score of 13 to 6 on mp_backlot.

Pressure @ 1st lan? When everyone expect from u incredible play, just like in home, u can get a bit stressed.

Besides we had to win like 13:5 or 13:6 vs BE to go trought the groupstage after beeing 0:3 behind, as marines on crash. How do u think we felt, confident like normaly ? So please quit that crap. BTW we just played goofy in every 3on1 n stuff go ask MYM how many 3on1 / 4on2 they won over us.

true we got 3-4 1on3's, but, for 4 or 5 rounds I played with my character running forward (for some reason without pressing forward, my charr would just run forward constantly without me being able to stop it) without speaking of it and died stupidly every round, the reason for not calling a time out sooner was that my team was winning without me. Although clutching in itself is a skill, you ask any team thats played us at lan how many time we clutch and youll get a ridiculous amount of times, its just something we do very often as were use to it, example 2on5 SL, 2on5 me + soclon lots of times =)

stop saying onliners lalalal, you are putting them under even bigger pressure before aef, tex. like deman said yesterday, they were very very nervous @ ipowergames and that's it. i hope they will shut you mouth when they'll take all the .eu lans.

and it's hard when your team isn't doing as good as it did in cod2 right?

and this term 'onliners' is really lame. just say they cheat if ur so damn sure bout it

onliner doesnt necessarily mean cheater.. it is one possibility but in most cases (like in this) its not true. it could be that they all have 666 fps machine and 10 ping on their server or they are just too nervous and inexperienced for lan.
hope they show what they can at next lans
