With just over 24 hours until the beginning of the LAN, I sat down with long-term team member

"nreo" Mead for a chat about everything that has happened over the recent weeks, enjoy!

Good evening Chris, and thanks for joining me! I'll start of by welcoming you back to the LAN scene, as you have been away and not participating with your teammates on LAN for almost 8 months - how come?
"Well Josh its been a series of unfortunate events for me, and a bit of stupidity on my own part. After CC5 its been a rollercoaster in terms of going through players and orgs, but 2 weeks before i36 I had quit what would have been speed-link as I lost interest in the game and needed to focus on my studies. But duffer convinced me it was worth coming back thereafter and I agreed. I never envisaged heading down to the ukesa lan finals as it seemed a thing of the past when we were removed from crack. So while it was amazing that we could go as soon as we got in BB, I realised my passport had expired. Being an expat in the netherlands it takes 2-3 weeks to renew your passport as it has to go through Paris. So I had to miss out on that."
You will ofcourse be attending the EPS this weekend however, but you are one of the two teams (Reason Gaming & Button Bashers) who will be participating with a stand-in, namely Will "will" Nye - how is will fitting into the team, is he the perfect merc?
"I don't think theres ever a perfect merc, unless its someone whose played with you a load before. Even though this time round we've had to juggle things around fairly quickly I think we've done okay in the three days we've had to practice. We know what the Nyena is capable of - hes got plenty of Lan experience."
If I'm not mistaken, you were due to take Jamie "hysobe" Harrison who participated with your team at UKeSA - why the sudden change?
"Well we were all ready to go with Jamie as soon as they had gotten back from ukesa. It was a bit of a spontaneous decision really as Jamie wasn't on one night and we didn't have much time to practice. Even though he knew some basic tacs we used they had been shuffled around because I couldn't go to ukesa. Now that I'd be playing instead of davy, it meant more juggling and swapping around. Will could play every night till the event so it made more sense to cram time with him."
While on the subject of UKeSA briefly, do you reckon you & Button Bashers could of achieved more (or even gone onto winning the event) if you had attended with your full line-up?
"Possibly, I don't see why we couldn't have won it even with the lineup that attended. It was a close match vs dig with touch and go rounds, so it could have gone either way. The fact is we haven't played all that much with the main line up anyway, we had planned to use ukesa as a bootcamp, to get to know eachother, work on our teamplay, and hopefully win it."
As you mentioned above, you are ofcourse unable to use Davy "Davy" Sysmans for this event due to the 60% UK roster rule that the EPS enforces. What will you be missing from your games which Davy usually brings to the table?
"Davy's grown so much as a player in the last few weeks, I think hes surprised everyone including myself. We all knew he has the ability if he puts his mind to it, but I didn't think he'd grow into the game as quickly as he has. He brings consistency, solid teamplay, and the ability to pull something special out of the bag when hes called upon to hold certain areas. Hes definetely a player you can trust to hold a site, but he can surprise as well with some sick multifrags when he pushes up wisely. Hes also a big motivator and keeps heads cool during pressure moments.He'll certainly be missed."
Obviously having you back in the team is a big plus, but as you mentioned before you planned to use UKeSA as a bootcamp. Will the EPS now be your bootcamp, even without Davy, or are you out to win?
"We're always out to win, it wouldn't really be a 'bootcamp' if we didn't put effort and simulate a serious professionalism. The only difference here is not putting as much pressure on ourselves if we don't come out with a decent result. We're very self-critical, and we don't like to lose, but there will be less pressure on ourselves if we do treat it as a bootcamp. Simply put, we're out to win, we want to win, theres four of the main five there and we're confident."
Button Bashers certainly have alot of flair in their team from an outsiders point of view, but from a team member, who is the one person we should keep an eye out for to really impress the masses?
"Honestly, anyone in the team can pull something off something special with the right conditions. I've seen everyone of us in recent weeks change rounds with some superb solo multikills and patient teamplay. If I did have to pick people out though, based on form and ability I'd have to choose duffer and L-KiNG. Duff's got alot of magic in him when hes motivated and fired up, and just goes gaelic on teams if everything is setup right. L-KiNG should never be underestimated and can get 3-4 kills in quick succession in a blink of an eye, hes definetely grown in his style."
So what are your predictions for this weekend? - Can you see any major upsets taking place?
"I'd like to say there'll be upsets, I'd also like to say we'll beat dignitas convincingly. But I'll put head over heart and we just haven't had as much time as we would have liked, Ralph (QwertYY) has had no internet for two of the four days we've wanted to practice this week so its been awkward. Not going to give a whole band of excuses though, so we'll do our best despite our handicap. Realistically based on form, I'd have to put TCM in first, long term stability has really paid off for them - and even if they've had problems, let it be a lesson to all the teams out there, stability does pay off, we've seen it with EG and the old L3. Reason don't really have just one 'change', they have two, even if slwx has been playing alot for them they haven't had the time to practice properely with their main line up let alone with stylez. Though they can pull of something special if slwx finds anything near his online form with kammyz and if revoltz + lighters are as solid as they usually are."

"haha, we were going to take him but he was in Copenhagen partying it up with friends till Wednesday, otherwise he'd have probably come with us. Hes already been to an EPS and he knows i love him dearly anyway."
