Masters of Athens international players list released

Games Services, the company that operates the Electronic Sports World Cup, announced today the list of selected international players to attend the first Masters event of this season, Masters of Athens 2008. The event will take place between October 17th and 18th and will be place of 12 international players along with 4 Greek ones in two disciplines, making it a total of 32 participants.

Quake 3 Arena and Warcraft 3 were the games selected to be featured in the berth of Olympic Games, this will be the second Masters event in history as the first took place last season in Paris, right before the Global Final which one was hosted in San Jose, USA. The list includes all 24 selected players among those who sent the application, 12 for each discipline.

At stake are $15,000 on each tournament, half of it going directly to the winner along with a slot to ESWC Global Final 2009, which location is yet to be disclosed. Only the winner will be granted a spot in the Global Final but all top four placed players will not go home empty handed.

The tournament will feature the traditional structure, two group stages followed by a four-players single elimination bracket, each match played on a best of three games. Official computers will host an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Nvidia 8600 GTS graphic card, 19'' LCD 4ms monitors for Warcraft 3 and CRT for Quake 3 Arena.

both tournaments are pretty well imo! q3 with cooller, toxjq, av3k, cypher, fox and rapha. wc3 with moon, grubby, lyn and so on.. sick event tbh!
