Following the release of "cem - Alive" and "luckeR - Too Lucky" in the past weeks, today we are happy to present yet another TEK9 Cinema project.

"In The Spotlight" will however not be the name of a new movie, but instead will be an opportunity for moviemakers to show the public what they are capable of and possibly even win some great prizes.

Like the topic already mentions, In The Spotlight is a movie contest hosted by TEK9 Cinema. Everyone is allowed to compete and we will be providing the following prizes for the top10 finishes:

First Place
SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Headset
SteelSeries QcK Mousepad (TEK9 Edition)
Combi pass for the Antwerp Esports Festival

Second Place
SteelSeries Ikari Optical Mouse
SteelSeries QcK Mousepad (TEK9 Edition)
One-day pass for the Antwerp Esports Festival

Third Place
SteelSeries QcK Mousepad (TEK9 Edition)
One-day pass for the Antwerp Esports Festival

4 to 10th Place

In The Spotlight focusses on Call of Duty 4 only, and participants are expected to meet the following requirements:

Requirements
Maximum Length: 3 minutes
Music: Free of choice
Game: Call of Duty 4
Maximum Resolution: 1280x720 for aspect ratio 16:9 or 1280x960 for aspect ratio 4:3
Upload: www.wipido.com

When it comes to the content, there are no restrictions. You are allowed to use your own footage, but shots from other players (for example from demos on the TEK9 website) are also permitted.

The deadline for the contest is in 4 weeks from now and will close the 22nd of June 2008, at 20:00 CET. In the week after, all submitted movies will be reviewed by the board (consisting of TEK9 Cinema members inFo- and MAXXUR, and TEK9 CoD4 player kammYz), after which 10 movies will be selected.

The 10 best movies will be presented to the public shortly after, including a streamed and a downloadable high quality version. The eventual winners will be decided by a public vote: a poll will be made available to all registered users.

The things that will be looked at
The Title
The Content
The Music and Sync
The Overall Feel
The Quality (resolution, video-quality and compression)

For the people interested in participating, below you can find the requirements. Movies can be submitted by uploading it to Wipido (www.wipido.com). Although Wipido provides a streamed (and lower res) version of the movie, we kindly ask all participants to upload a full/high quality version to Wipido. The admins are able to download the movie you uploaded in full quality, and will look at the resolution, video-quality and compression.

Important
When you've uploaded your movie to Wipido, send an email to armin[a_t]tek-9.net (replace the [a_t] with @). The topic of this email should be "In The Spotlight Movie Contest", while the mail itself should include your full name and the link to the Wipido stream.

just a small detail on how the jury works: The three of us give a rating for every movie, and after that the 10 movies with the highest ranking proceed.

Also, don't be let down by the fact there are a lot of good moviemakers out there. Try to make something daring, something that pops out. That doesn't mean it has to be superquality or superdupercontent, just make an interesting (daring) complete package.

And something for me personal: i actually prefer that u use ur own content over other people's (or at least some of it)

"being able to make a movie" doesn't require that much. Of course u need to learn the basics, but these aren't as difficult as u'd think. It might even be an advantage not to have made a movie ever, and to create something that isn't just "like the rest".

I was just about making a vid;p got some nice frags btw u guys watch if its pub/mix/war? coz like example 98% war frags and 2pct pub frags (which is like a 4kill sniperunscope streak in like 7secs)

Question1: when i try avi_demo and i do maxfps 25 and i do avidemo 25 I have to wait SOOOOOOOO long 5mins = 5 metre (no joke) is this alright? if not what can i do about it?
coz i sure want good Quality.

Question 2: Can it be ANY cod4 movie? jump/frag/shootbloopers a little cod4 soap anything?

Question 3: does wipido have a limit? for like 300mb or whatever?

Question 4: Can i send several links with movie's? so you guys can pick the best one who is entering the contest?

edit: great prizes btw! =) and a wicked idea cant wait to see the top10 movie's! And im participating ofcourse.

elfjuh: of course, war frags are the most preferred ones.

And yes, it does take very long (depending on your computer) to record with cl_avidemo, and 25 isn't even really good. If you do cl_avidemo, I suggest you to record with some multiple of the framerate you are using, like fps*x where 'fps' is your project's framerate and x is the multiple, you decide which you want to use. If you did cl_avidemo 100, that would look a lot better than cl_avidemo 25.

About the type of the movie, I think it is a fragmovie competition (info/maxxur confirm this), as you could read from the text. Not 100% sure tho.

Wipido has 512MB limit for the uploaded files, but I think a 2-3 min file won't even use 1/3 of that.

And about entering multiple videos, I think (again, info/maxxur confirm me) you can enter with only one video.

To Tigah, it's not really a weird date. People all over world have exams in different dates, like we Finns have exams now and then the summer vacation begins =)
