FatLAN 12: PKRSTARS Interview

I was following the FatLAN Coverage and looking at the results and all the sudden everybody started yelling (caps lock) that PKRSTARS had defeated ButtonBashers. So I joined forces with the PKRSTARS team immediately and had a team interview.

The team has a temporarily line-up chance due to fatal not being able to attend this event. The current line-up of PKRSTARS looks like the following:

 Robert “mean” Kouters

 Brian “vincee” Huizinga

 Roy “Roy” Godschalk

 Boudewijn “aerox” Verleg

 Robert “ImpreZ” Mertz

Oke, for those who do not know you. Could you quickly introduce yourself one by one?

Yeah, how come Fatal couldn't attend this LAN event? And what made you think ImpreZ was the right substitute?

mean: Fatal had some trouble attending due to some private commitments. Unfortunate, but I've known ImpreZ for over a year so I knew it was the right choice.

ImpreZ: I'm glad we were able to beat ButtonBashers, besides that I'm glad that I'm playing good for the PKRSTARS, despite only playing with them for 2 days.

First few matches for you were quite easy, such as the group matches. Also the UB 1 match went smooth with a 13-01 victory over impact. Then you had to face DOK, a fairly tough team. How did this match go?

Roy: we never have any big problems playing crash, (except when we play serious gaming) but playing without fatal our main SMG and only playing with ImpreZ 2 days it was quite hard to find any hole in their solid defense.

Then you had to BB, we already talked about it. As you said yourself, you were the underdogs. But what were your tactics for the match?

aerox: Kill Stevy and Pietje.

And during the two overtimes, could you control yourself and your nerves?

aerox: Yes, with each round won I got a little more excited, my thought's racing with pretty much the sentence: “We might actually win this!”

Roy: Yeah, at the end of the day it’s just a video game eventhough we had a lot of people behind us and I want to say thanks to them for their great support but it didn’t really influence my game.

Now you're facing serious-gaming, what are your thoughts on this match and opponent?

Roy: haha kaj is geek

aerox: If we can keep Kaj's sniping at bay, and Supreme without any nade kills, we should do alright, however, it's proven to be quite difficult to accomplish at least one of the tasks, let alone 2

mean: Well this time it's map elimination, so we can pick the maps we think we can beat them on. We've played them pretty often last few weeks and they're a solid team. But I think if we can eliminate Kaj we have a chance.

aerox: I agree with Mean :<

How do you think the match will go and what will the final score be?

Roy: It’s Call of Duty 4, one of the most random games I’ve ever played, so I think its kinda hard to predict a score.

vincee: but it will be a close one.

aerox: It's gonna boil down to map, and we have no clue what map they'll eliminate. If it's a good map for us, we will probably take it, and if they have a good map, they'll win, but it'll be very close]

aerox: 13-10, 13-9 to either one

mean: I like a 12-12 score, with quadruple overtime.

If you're going to make it to the Grand Final who do you want to face? And if you lose against srs, who do you want to face in the Consolation Final?

aerox: Rodcad. Revenge for The Party!

mean: I want to face srs-gaming. They're sound guys and we have to win over them sometime.

Roy: would be fun to meet serious or button bashers in the final again because they both have a great name and reputation so it’s always a pleasure to play them especially on LAN.

aerox: 1. BB/SRS

3. BB/SRS

Roy: 1. ButtonBashers

2. Serious Gaming

3. PokerStars (still wanna win the headsets)

mean: SRS and us are already in the top 3. But the 3rd spot could be taken by both rodcad or BB. Depends on the game.

aerox: Shout outs to everyone who kept supporting us, and still believed we could come top3, thanks to srs for the many hours of practice we had with them, and especially to Siebe "IKNOWNADES" Huisman, Bob "I MADE A SICK NADE" Janssen, and Kaj "I HAVE NO WALLS" van Staalduinen. And ofcourse FATAL!

Roy: Everyone of our team is looking forward to our next match, and ofcource we hope to finish them winning and taking some nice prices back home, further i want to thank denzz, qinoa, charlie, pivoo, admski for their great support and ofcource Henk de Vries for his great answers throughout the tournament.

aerox: Henk de Vries proved to be invaluable during this lan, he helped us through many a difficult situation
