Last week we've seen sixteen teams fighting for the last eight spots in ESL Major Series Season III. Now ESL have announced the groups for the main round. The best sixteen teams of the world will fight for the prize pool of 2000 euro.
In the main round we can see some very strong teams like SK-Gaming, fnatic and mTw.AMD. Also the Benelux organizations TEK9 and LowLandLions (with an European team though) are among the participaters. Just like last time for Qualification Round 2, we asked a TEK9 member to give his view on the groups. JonasL will be the one who is reviewing the groups this time.
Group A
fnatic (Winner EMS Season II)
Wizards of the Ball
Pincho.EA
LowLandLions
JonasL: Group A is probably the best of the four groups we got in this EMS. The favourite in this group is hard to tell, Lowlandlions showed strong results in the European Qualification, fnatic is the defending champs and PinCho is a team full of great players. Wizards of the Ball from Hungary will of course be the underdogs in a group like this, but with a bit of luck they can surprise. But even though the group is a killer, I think our defending champs from Spain, fnatic, will make it through to the playoffs. Lowlandlions and PinCho will fight for the 2nd and 3rd place, could go either ways, and WotB will probably end as 4th.
Group B
diamondZ e.V.
OverGame e-Sports Club
mTw.AMD
Frag eXecutors
JonasL: This group might be the easiest group to predict, but still anything can happen. We got two teams that might be a level higher than the other two teams. mTw.AMD and diamondZ e.V. are both very strong and wellknown teams, and they will probably fight for the 1st place. diamondZ e.V. showed great results in the last EMS Tournament, with a second place, and mTw.AMD is just a bunch of skilled players, both online and offline. But lets not forget about OverGame e-Sports Club from Spain and Frag eXecutors.FIFA from Poland. Frag eXecutors.FIFA got good wellknown players like andrelis who've played under the name of Team Excello in the older days, while OverGame e-Sports Club is a new team we don't know much about. I think the winner of group B will be mTw.AMD with diamondZ e.V. right after them on a 2nd place. Frag eXecutors.FIFA will be 3rd I think, and OverGame e-Sports Club will be last.
Group C
RAGE.MULTIGAMING
hoorai.Xilence.Fortknox
D-Link PGS Gaming
TEK9 Networks
JonasL: Group C is our group, and almost as strong as group A. Our upcoming opponents will be RAGE.MULTIGAMING from Russia which is a team with big profiles like Krasi, Hacker and Stells, so that's definitely gonna be a tough match for us. We'll also face hoorai.Xilence.FortKnox from Germany, who've shown good results in the German EPS. They have 3 players of the strong national team, Germany, so that's obviously not gonna be an easy match either, but I think it will be pretty even. Last but not least we got D-Link PGS Gaming, with all the best of Poland. D-Link PGS Gaming is almost the entire national team of Poland, who won the ENC in Germany. We've played D-Link PGS Gaming before in the Echallenge tournament, which was a very close game, so anything can happen. I can't make any logical conclusion out of this, but my prediction will be that TEK9 will win the group ;D, PGS-Gaming will be second followed by Hoorai.Xilence.FortKnox on a third place, and RAGE.MULTIGAMING on the 4th place. These prediction could be flipped around and still look possible, cause we got this group of skilled teams, only.
Group D
neXtPlease Gaming
European Football Stars
Team Dignitas
SK-Gaming
JonasL: The last group we got is with the famous SK-Gaming, Team-Dignitas, neXtPlease Gaming and the russians, European Football Stars. Most of those who look at this group, will probably think SK-Gaming will take this one easily, but I don't think we should count on that. SK-Gaming got a strong, professional team who never will be underdestiminated, but still, I think they gotta play relegations as second in the group. Why I think SK-Gaming won't be first is because we got the romanians from neXtPlease Gaming. They're probably the strongest team in the entire EMS at the moment, with players like AleX, who made a great performance at The-Experience in Roskilde, with a defeat in the final, against Ovvy. They also got an early winner of WCG, Bigdaddy who's also a strong player with alot of routine. But let's not forget about Team-Dignitas. Dignitas has showen an uncertain performance doing the European qualification, but amazingly they still made it to this groupstage. They've rebuilded the team since last time we saw them in EMS, with new, strong players like Rolando, Kesar, Mathjke, Kensuke and MaDDe. To be honest I think Team-Dignitas will have a hard time in this group. NeXtPlease Gaming will probably be 1st, SK-Gaming 2nd with Team-Dignitas right behind them, and the European Football Stars from Russia as fourth.
