For the third edition of the AEF interview series I managed to catch up with Nikolaj Lazarev, also known as
Mazarini, for a quick interview about his team's chances and preparations going into the tournament.
Heya Nikolaj, first of all, could you tell us a bit about yourself and your gaming history?
Hey, my full name is Nikolaj Lazarev, I'm 19 years old and currently studying in Prague (: I started playing like 3 years back in CoD1 with my current eSuba teammate NiO (played with him nearly my whole "career", in cod1/cod2/cod4 ), after which I played cod2 with my the old neophyte team. I joined eSuba half a year ago, together with cross and the move has been really good for. Now we are five good friends, without any real conflicts (: (maybe just me, I always yell at my mates if something is going wrong, mhahahaha :P )
With the AEF going live in two days from now, and The Experience starting just days after, do you think the team is fully prepared for the upcoming summer LANs? And how did the preparations go?
We didnt have too much time to prepare due to vacations, but we practised hard the last 8 days and I think we are almost ready2pwn (:
About the preparations, mmh I will come up with something new (tacs etc.) and get everyone to join the server, show them and improve it together. After that we just test it by playing pcw's.
With eSuba's first matches kicking off Friday afternoon, when will be the team be travelling to Antwerp and how are you guys getting to the event?
We will meet our manager with his gf in Prague on thursday, buy some drinks etc and will go by car. We will be in Antwerp thursday night I guess.
You guys have been placed in Group G, together with SP Gaming from Greece, the European mix #euroFriends and FatGames from Belgium. What are your thoughts on the team's in your group?
I really dont know these teams that well, only euroFriends, who are pretty cool guys as we played against them on CDC (:
Compared to the Crossfire Devotii Challenge 4, where you guys placed third, do you think the team is currently in better shape?
Our main goal is to place TOP 3. Of course we are better now than we were several months ago (same goes for the other teams :D), because at the time of CDC we only played together for 1 month. I think we are better on lan, where we are really motivated and concentrated.
Coming into the tournament as one of the 12 high seeded teams, what are eSuba's expectations of the event and what teams do you think will do well?
Now we have like 10-12 top teams and the skill gap between them isn't big, so everyone can win. I think in this case its not about who is the better team, but it depends on who doesn't screw up (: I think if MYM doesn't rage :P, they can win the tournament. Perhaps fnatic, but I don't really know how they play (they are so good that they can't play us, bigheaded). I hope/think SL will do well.
Well good luck at the event and thanks for the interview, any last words?
Thanks (: We are eSuba, drop your weapons! Cya the day after tommorow!
