AEF interview series: South-Park enc

As our first interview for the upcoming Antwerp Esports Festival I managed to catch up with long time member of the well known Greek team,  enc. Be sure to check back on Tek-9.org for more interviews and extensive coverage when the event begins.

Hey so can you just introduce yourself and tell us a little about the team?

Hi I'm enc from sp-gaming, I've been an avid fps gamer since 2000 , started back in time with a little known game called tribes, and then moved on to the cod series.

Our team was formerly known as noname, and is now under the biggest Greek multigaming team sp-gaming. The core of its players have been together since vCoD, and the current lineup is enc, gody, vertigo, anal, and pal (filling in as fifth for aef).

With that being the case, why do you think you as a team have only really started to become internationally recognised since the realease of CoD4? Does the games fast pace suit you more?

The main reason is no other than broadband connections which have only been fully developed lately in Greece. Back in the vcod days we would struggle to find a decent ISP with acceptable routing to either Germany or Italy so we could not rent a server that is viable for European gamers.

Nowadays it’s all smoother, so It's definitely not about the game being fast paced or anything like that.

Your currently attending a bootcamp, hows the preparation for AEF going?

We've been bootcamping the past week  and a half in Athens, things are coming around nice, we are building up both our ingame comms and our team morale.

And any funny stories over the past week and a half?

Hmm, I don’t think there is any, our way to the LAN has been all thorns. Firstly because we didn’t get the amount of sponsorship we looked for and we had to pay the trips for ourselves except serverfarm.gr which has been infinitely generous.

And as a last hit, halfway through the bootcamp our fifth member decided to try out for a Greek football team and left us looking for a replacement

Ouch, hopefully your trip to Antwerp will be better, how are you getting to the event?

We are flying to Brussels on Thursday with Olympic airlines and then by train to Antwerp. I've been touring Belgium this Easter so I'm really familiar with the place and the way transportation works. However two of my mates have never travelled abroad so there will be some babysitting :P

You have been placed in group G with favourites eSuba, along with fatgames and eurofriends. How confident are you about progressing out of the group stage?

At first look, the group was a big relief for us, as we had a decent time schedule. We would certainly be in trouble if we had to play in the morning, since here in Greece its really common for people our age to stay up late - even early morning.

Concerning the teams in our groups; we are pretty confident that we will secure 2nd place and give our best for a straight go through to the playoffs

And will we be seeing south park in any other LAN events over the summer?

We started with big plans, but I'm afraid this will be the only lan we'll be attending

Well good luck at the event and thanks for the interview, any last words?

Thanks for interviewing me, a big shoutout to our sponsor serverfarm.gr, ncs-gaming and callofduty.gr.
