Sadly for me an 8mb line cost m £150 for the year. It's more expensive that other places but its the only option I have. With the 512kbps I can't even watch videos on youtube without letting them load for 20mins.
Ping has nothing to do with download speed. It's all about how far away you are from the exchange server. So if you have bad ping now, the likelihood is you'll still have bad ping with a different provider. And definitely if you just up you're speed with the same ISP.
If it's literally called a gaming package, all they do is shape the traffic at different times and turn off interleaving. All of which can be done for free if you complain
What I mean by the gaming package is the fact that you're allowed to use their servers join the league tables and compete for an iPad quarterly or something. Thats an extra to the greater bandwidth I've paid for.

that is mainly with extremely low download/uploads but it does affect it.

Only on 2mb and have still got better ping than at home.

Nightlife is really good and is being nominated as one of the best uni's in the country afaik.

10-15 ping most uk servers, 15-20 on eu.
