Got my results :D
Graphics INT 2 - B
English INT 1 - A (Got 2 last year so its meaningless)
Computing - 2
German - 3
History - 2
Maths - 2
Physics - 2
Tech Studies - 1
1 at Standard Grade is same as a A at INT 2 - so the same as a A in GCSE's.
2 at Standard Grade is same as B at INT 2 - so the same as a B in GCSE's.
3 at Standard Grade is same as a C at INT 2 - so the same as a C in GCSE's.
4 At Standard Grade is same as a A at INT 1 - so the same as a D in GCSE's.
I already had an unconditional for uni so i dropped out of 2 of the 3 advanced highers i was doing. Only had 2 exams.
One was Advanced Higher Maths - got a D ( wtf is a D? but i was convinced i had failed it anyway was hard as fuck)
Physics Higher - B ( this was a resit, got a B last year aswell so meaningless! )
Thank fuck I wasn't needing to meet any conditions. Feel amazing when everyone else is panicking.
Yeah quite a few of my mates were getting unconditionals for physics/engineering but me being the stupid twat that I am thought it'd be a smart idea to apply for astrophysics and astronomy... tiny courses, tough to get into, so my only conditionals for this year were for A's all round. What are you off to do?
Planning sticking an app in for straight physics at Unis of Edinburgh and Glasgow + Strathclyde this year just as a back up if I can't get anywhere career-wise in NY.
That maths paper though... we had an exam conditions prelim a week before it, got 19% pretty decent effort to boost from that to a C in 7 days even if i say so myelf. Walking out after sitting the exam, pretty much certain I'd bombed it so well happy that I passed.
Chemical engineering for me bud, i got 57% in the prelim , but yeh after the exam i just wanted to go sleep for a week, everyone just sorta looked at eachother with a face that said " what the fuck was that"
Haha yeah, so many questions missed out, the whole last page... Just wtf?
Music promotion in NY mate, currently I guess you could say I'm an assistant to a venues' booker/promoter and yeah there's a lot of talent around the Highlands but nowhere near the prospects for a behind the scenes guy like me compared to such a massive city, which is just a fucking giant melting pot for music, any genre, any night - fucking music heaven. Got the opportunity to spend some time in NYC so thought what the hell I'll take a risk and do something exciting and move out there.
If I can't get a job in music, pretty much be happy just serving in a coffee shop somewhere - as long as I'm outta Inverness
sounds like you've got it all planned out! never fancied a career in music myself, but living in NY especially as an 18(?) year old sounds amazing! genuinly wish you every success! Inverness? at least its a city haha. Stuck in bloody buckhaven all my life, no thanks!
Yeah, I was only joking bro. I have plenty of mates who weren't the smartest of people but through sheer hard work they go to top Unis. Didn't get as good grades as your brother did, but I know what you mean :)
Surprisingly enough, nothing science-related at all, instead, music. He was in pretty much every orchestra/band/ensemble he could be a part of at Cambridge and conducted them all too. Lives in a flat here now and is a regular guest member in various productions. Definitely the sort of guy that if he wants to will make a good living from music performance.
Even tho its not on topic its related and i'm not gnna make one for it - got an email today from my uni (exeter) saying that my masters application has been accepted :D:D

Grats :)
I don't know what those grades mean though (if they're good or not) but you seem happy about them so

standard grades were great...
Higher = A level
Maths - B
Info Systems - B
Drama - B
English - C
Modern Studies - C
AH Physics C
AH Maths C
H Biology B
H Bus Man B
to add to ABBBB in Highers from last year.
Shite, but fuck it I'm moving to New York this year instead of going to uni, not worried (:
Even tho i started out doing 3 AH this year i ended up only sitting the maths exam and getting a D, was fucking awful!
