Just watched it. Managed to get it in HD too which was great.
I thought it was a very poignant episode and you can tell they are leaning towards poignancy from the out-set, (harsh realties of war).
Although not upto Band of Brothers standard in terms of character development, hopefully as the series goes on it will live upto the expectation.
I really enjoyed it, but definitely recommend seeing it in HD. Don't ruin it by watching a poor stream.
Yeah it's a huge budget which leads me to think that Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and co have gone all out. I think it's one of the highest for a mini-series.
I managed to get the soundtrack too, which is definitely worth having a listen to.
I think the difference is that Band of Brothers was focused on a set company, so with it brought all the classic ideals of comradeship and brotherhood.
However with The Pacific, Hanks and Spielberg are looking towards a far more poignant side of war, the horrors and how human beings deal with the horrors of war. The series is also based on a book, war memoirs, and documented exploits of John Baselone, where as Band of Brothers was made into a book through a series of memoirs and first account interviews.
In terms of action, there will be plenty. I can guarantee that.
watched ep1 last night, was kina wat i exspected, funny as fuck in the begining were your gettin hyped up for a massive attack ontp the beach but i wont say anymore haha and the intro just made me feel all warm like BoB used to :D cant wait for the next ep gona be fuckin brill!
