Afaik the cast changes every two seasons and is also directed by a new person. The whole concept of skins was to give budding UK actors/actresses/directors/producers a platform, hence why it changes every two seasons?

As a sidenote, as if the guy could've done him. Walking up the stairs with a bat you'd have no room to swing the fucker, he'd obviously get fucking mullered before he had chance to do damage, at least make it real.
It shocked me aswell, i saw some posts on facebook about him being beaten and i was expecting cook to beat him silly. He will probably be dead, they need something big to end on as next week is the last with these characters.

In the same episode where a guy gets brutally beaten with a baseball bat and you see blood splatter all over the window, they film a guy hitting a girl in the middle of the street? Just seems a bit ridiculous in my mind for us youth.
I'll just watch you walk up 15 stairs holding a bat, then i'll bend towards you and show you my skull. This season is so emo it's incredible, granted, sadness is part of life, but fml would it kill the writers to throw in a joke or a smirk once a year?
stopped watching after the first episode, only liked series 1-3. At the end of the series ill just type in youtube ''Effys highlights of series 4'' instead of watching all the episodes :D
Theres been something between cook, effy & freddy both seasons so its obviously going to have something going on there. Cook beats the guy silly because effy finds out about what happened to freddy and tells him, or so. Cooks going to beat the guy up i think thats a given.
agree with whats been said bit brutal and unexpected, although as soon as the door was locked I thought to myself something fucked up is about to happen.
But in all seriousness if some guy is walking up the stairs with a bat you push or kick the fucker back down the stairs not to mention he didn't have alot of room to be swingin the bat around anyway!
Still hope they pull something off next week as this season I thought has been sort of a let down compared to the first, I'm sure we can all assume it's gonna involve cook kicking the shit if not killing that giant mong of a psychiatrist. :D
just watched that episode bit disturbing and why the fuck wudnt u have booted the door in its only a little metal thing in a wooden frame 2/3 boots n its open fml!!
Anyways effys not in next season herd it somewhere erm duno they cud just keep going n going imo they shud return to the cast of 1st one obv w/o chris who was THE best character, see how lifes unfolded etc duno might start watching shamless from season 1 as my late time chill out tv show :)
