Won't do anything for them. Will just be a repeat of when Fowler went back to Liverpool or Big Dunc came back to Everton. Its more for the fans that the club itself.
Fowler was an amazing player when he was first at Liverpool. I could've said Micheal Owen from when he left the Prem and returned to initially do fuck all. The same with Beckham and now he's in France doing fuck all.
The only player to leave the Prem and to actually be better is Joe Cole.
Best. Player. Ever.
When Henry was first with Arsenal when he was much younger you need to remember the the state of the Prem was much different, teams didn't have silly money to throw about, so regardless of who I compare Henry to, he still won't get Arsenal to the former glory that they were at.
I get where you come from but it can work sometimes as well. For instance when Henrik Larsson went to Manchester United for a few months about 4 years ago he played immense and they wanted to keep him on for longer.
Its more for the experience he has, as to the reason why hes back. Dotn care if he doesnt score a player like him is awesome to have in anny dressing room
What expectations though? Everyone knows he is only here to sit on the bench for 2 months to add a little cover, anyone that expects him to replicate the form he had 10 years ago is an idiot.
Bergkamp is my favourite player of all time but it's hard to disagree with the fact that Henry was the best player Arsenal and the Premiership have ever seen.
Really don't think you can justify Henry being the best player ever to have played in the Premiership.
The argument has been raised above about money and how much more competitive the prem is these days. But what is also important to consider is how much of a stricter regime the players now-a-days are on. I think comparing footballers outside of about a 10 year window of time is pointless due the progressions in the game/everyones diet etc.
You cannot justify to me that Henry is a better player than George Best. In the same way that I cannot justify to you that Rooney is better than Henry (talking in terms of the best player to grace the Premiership).
I think football fans really need to take a step back sometimes and look at an individuals skill as just impressive over the course of that persons career rather than comparing directly to other players, especially if they didn't play in the same era.
Sorry for the rant - wasn't exactly a reply to what you said but I needed to vent.
Morg, I don't want to sound rude or condescending, but that is a fairly ignorant answer.
1, Thierry Henry was voted as the best player of all time, by the public and a panel of judges.
2, Henry has won the PFA and football writers player of the year awards more than anyone else.
3, George Best never played in the Premier League, I know what you mean but that wasn't the argument.
4, You talk about diet etc.. but Arsene Wenger was the main instigator of dietary change in this country for footballers and it was certainly prevalent when Henry was playing (we arn't talking about that long ago, jesus)
5, comparing Rooney to Henry I find a little bit sickening.
Morg telling me to 'fuck off and read above', your information is inaccurate, geta clue before posting.
bAKEZJE that poll is completely stupid, shock horror the only 2 players in the list who is still playing are 1st and 2nd, just shows you the kind of idiots who are voting.
Morgs, why should Giggs win? He is the best in terms of longevity and that should count for something, but in terms of talent and performances, he is outclassed be a few on that list. Henry, Bergkamp, Ronaldo all far more talented at the game.
bAKEXJI you must be joking, that Poll is from 2005, long before Henry single handedly took arsenal to the champions league final. hahaha, stop linking total rubbish.
SO what???? That post is pointless then isn't it? Jesus, like talking to a wall. ALso lol'd at your edit telling me to 'look up' even after Morg realised his mistake.
you must surely see that the first link is stupid as I already pointed out, the 2 current players are 1st and 2nd. Also Ronaldo may well be the better player but he was only world class at united for 2 seasons so you can't possibly say he was a better player in the premier league. Reduced to it's simplest form, if Player 'X' score a hatrick in 1 game he is not the best player in the premier league in the moment in time.
@ MOrgs, I mean you're mistake in thinking the premier-league spanned George Best, which obviously it doesn't, therefore players of his generation are excluded from the convosation.
@bAKexj, nothing you say or post is ever relevant, I cannot be bothered to correct you just so I have something to argue against. Stop posting rubbish weighted polls. I don't care if you think Fowler is the best ever premier league player or whatever (calm down, I'm joking), But I cba with this back and forth. The bottom line is all the stats an accolades suggest that Henry he the best ever premier league player, but i guess if you want to read random polls/bad pieces of journalism that's up to you. At the end of the day, my view is a commonly held view and I don't need to convince others, apologies. (Also, Scholes and Giggs would be first and second if your point made any sense).
@MORG, no you are simply wrong, we are talking about the premier league, not the top flight. Regardless IDC, you are outrageously rude, I am not bothered what your opinion is.
Please keep posting Morg, it amuses me. You're a terrible person ( I must be "butthurt new fag").
So you obviously didn't read the bit that said "Arsenal's Thierry Henry was voted the best current player, while Chelsea's Jose Mourinho was voted the best boss."
Wasn't telling you to look up at morgs post. Was showing you that first link. Surely Ronaldo out classes Henry in best Prem player of all time if we're looking at it the way you want, in terms of talent and performances.
Also, Henry became Arsnals top goal scorer of all time in October 2005, the post was made in November.
Basically, what your argument is, is that Henry is the best player of all time and/or best player to ever play in the Prem?
You've just contradicted yourself! The 2 current players that are first and second have been in the Prem (Sorry, first flight football of the English heritage) with their clubs for twice aslong as Henry was at Arsenal for, so if we're going by the way your looking at this, surely that means that they're better than Henry and infact the first link isn't as stupid as you originally thought? Its not Giggs and Gerrards fault they didn't fuck off to another country.
I don't think Fowler is the best player, I was merely making a comparison that once a player has left the club that made them who they are... they won't do near as good as they did when returning. Quite frankly I hate Robbie Fowler. But obviously you were blinded by your love for Henry to even recognise that. But you yourself dropped the whole "1, Thierry Henry was voted as the best player of all time, by the public and a panel of judges.", surely that itself is a poll?
Also, I wasn't trying to make the point that the longer a player is in the Prem the more right they have to "Best player the Prem has Seen".... Thats the point you tried to make when I said Ronaldo was better than Henry.
I just can't be arsed to type a three page essay to you on the philosophical questions raised in your reply to me on the subjective nature of some one being classed as better than one of their peers in sport.
Well they should be - it's a fucking name. You're just getting into semantics. Just because division 1 wasn't called the premier league doesn't mean it essentially wasn't exactly the same thing.
What are you talking about, honestly. Henry isn't just Arsenal's greatest ever player, he is the Premier League's greatest ever player. Fans will not switch to RVP on a whim, though the guy is a great player.
SHit reply system. Bakezje you can't just say I'm living in a dream world and provide no counter suggestion. The premier league is only the last 20 years or so.
yes, keep the post count ticking over distant, you're nearly top! good for you (y)!
im an arsenal fan and i think this move is bad :/ if he plays bad its gonna affect what we remember him as :( but i support arsenal coz i love the club, wouldnt change even if we went another 6 years without a trophy

if I had been a leeds player then I'd have been like "fuark gief me your shirt mayn"
there's people in our squad that are roughly 20 years old, when they were a very young teenager, watching him do what he did and then play against him, must be a nice feeling.
Yeah he said he always loved playing at fratton park, they always applauded him and gave him good cheers even though they were losing, they just admired the quality. Hes a good man and has massive respect for arsenal
The only player to leave the Prem and to actually be better is Joe Cole.

Bergkamp = beast.
Also I bet in 5 years time you will be saying that Van Persie was the best ever Arsenal player.
Arsenal fans always have the shortest memories.

I agree wholeheartedly with your last paragraph Mr Baker. Excellent comprehension skills my friend.
You're an annoying prick that is an easy target for my leet keyboard warrior skills on a Friday afternoon while I'm at work.
