Installing custom maps on CoD4 server

Posted by Finland aciZco on 2012-02-06 14:36:19
So I've been having problems installing custom maps on my server. I've followed millions of tutorials found on google, but none of them are working. The problem (atl least I think) is that my server isn't webhosting, its installed on root server rented from Hetzner ( www.hetzner.de ). So I'm pretty sure I have to do something extra due to that. Any help?

The error console shows when I type /rcon map mp_cluster (just for example) is "A mod is required to run custom maps." and obviously I am trying to run the map in server with Promod211.

"A mod is required to run custom maps."

Do you get this exact message for all custom maps or only for cluster?

All custom maps. Have tried installing mp_cluster, mp_hideout and mp_backlot_fix_1.4.

Nope, I got Windows 7. And I wouldn't like to grant access to root via teamviewer :S So can you just tell me how to do it?

Inside your COD4 server, there should be seven folders. Docs, main, miles, mods, pb, usermaps, and zone. If you don't have the usermaps folder, create it. Inside the usermaps folder is where you place the folders for your custom maps.

Have done that, still doesn't work :S Will post screens how is it in my ftp in hour or so once I get back home.

The map itself has 3 files, 1 .iwd and 2.ff's if I remember correct. Do I have to put all the files in that usermaps folder or do I need to put some files elsewhere?

Should go like this

ps. There is a teamviewer mode where the person looking at your screen can't control anything but they can point to things and see your screen. If someone wants to teamviewer you, just go to presentation mode

you might have to put the .iwd in the promodlive211 mods folder, and the all files in usermaps folder(include the .iwd)
So do as you have done but put the .iwd file in the promodlive211 mods folder, should do it

Ok so I tried to put them exactly like they are in the picture Naughty posted, didn't work. Then did like Chk said, had all 3 files (2 ff's and 1 iwd) in usermaps/mp_mapname folder and copy of each maps iwd in mods/promodlive211 folder, both ways got this same error.

Is there any kind of command line manager?

What do you mean with that?

I think the problem is that since it's in the root, it doesn't know exactly where COD4 is install therefore it doesn't know where to look for the maps. The mod is required stuff is most likely just an automatically transmitted message as a lame form of trouble shooting.

The command line manager tells your COD4 where in the server your COD4 is installed so it can find things like mods and custom maps.

Is there anyway you can see the properties of the iw3mp executable where ever the COD4 is installed on your server? If you can see this then you can edit the command line and most likely fix your problem

Well appearently even tho I was promised for full root access by the server owner, I don't have full access since I cannot see iw3mp.exe in FTP. So I will talk to the owner tomorrow and ask him to check the command line. Can I add you on xfire Naughty?

naughtygeko24 - if I start talking and randomly stop, it's because the new xfire crashes every other second
