Well, I don't have a team anyways so it's not for me. :p
But I just love the concept of a 1 day tournament on an easy location not only for Dutch people but also foreigners
@ ASpec
first of all thanks for all your work but i have some idea what could help you and the cod4 community
your voice is pretty much perfect for shoutcasting but you seem to have a bit lack of knowledge of the game (no offense)
maybe just ask some english speaking top teams to join their ts in your free time and spec them when they play to understand how the top teams really work and play
it would help you to understand the tactics more and see new aspects of the game :)
hope you consider doing that cause i think your a talented guy but you need to work on that
There's always something to improve, production wise, casting wise. We never stop trying to improve. Which I think people can see if you go back to 2009 when we started haha :D.
But we do need community feedback all the time. And this kind of feedback is perfect. Normally the small amount of 'criticism' we get is limited to 'fuck commentator' or 'commentator needs to stfu'. Which clearly doesn't help :P.
Constructive criticism is always welcome guys. We're here for the community after all.
Do you remember which match you camped in the corner on City for 2 minutes followed by getting two frags? I wanted to add those to the highlights as well.
Btw it was vs eSuba, Citystreets, Defense round x (dont rly know what round) :D, i remember deviance didn't quite hit the shots standing above me on the ledge :D
We found it, or rather you did. Will see if I can clip-it tonight. Although I wonder why Delroo is getting an exposure overload :P. Wasn't there more crazy shit that we can use to create a highlight clip? :P
Did we comment on the match or did we just stream it? I know we lost a total of 3 matches due to a technical failure (happens every event btw, generally it doesn't get noticed coz we produce around 40gb of material regardless rofl).
I'll have a look on the stream PC, but as far as I remember we did upload everything.
was nice how many games you managed to do :) but just something to add, try to commentate everything, who kills who, try speccing more people then only scope/topfraggers. Your a good one if people are only listing to your voice and can see everything you say. You need to see everything and say everything, you can never stop talking about the game!
Ideally we want the community to assist us in co-casting. We're pretty adept at casting any game in high quality with good allaround casting (if internet permitts *wzzrdcough*). But the community can also pitch in by giving us some co-casters with the latest indepth knowledge and allowing Matt to breath once in a while :P.
In the end, you as a co-caster create good exposure for your sponsors as well. We had over 45.000 unique viewers and over 300.000 views at the LAN, so any sponsor is sure to get a smile on their face if you take the effort to join us on the casting couch :D.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. We really appreciate the support and are happy to be part of the COD4 community (which between us is still the most awesomemememest we've seen so far). And be sure to also sub to our youtube channel to show your support :D.
Right, whilst I appreciate your feedback, there are parts of it that goes straight against how I do my commentary, I don't need to say "everything", there's such a thing as letting the actions speak for themselfs.
When it comes to never stopping to talk about the game, that right there is just simply not possible, talking about every single kill is generally not even relevant in the opening stages of the game and becomes incredibly boring very, very quickly.
I can imagine that you want to help, but what I need is actual game and metagame knowledge. Not advice on how I cast.
If I may add, and if I understand what you're talking of here, I think what the guys mean is, instead of talking about as much about what's physically happening, try add content such as, why you think teams are attacking the site they are, how have they adapted to the enemy's play style and why you think what they're doing is right/wrong.
On the stream side, a simple few things come to mind, like using the shoutcasting functionality that promod 2.11 gives you. Try bind things like the map overview and scopes, this allows you to push one button and follow scopes in the opening seconds to see if they get opening picks and such.
Everyone has there opinion on how they want a stream, and I understand you try please the general amount, unfortunately the 10% that hate it are the only ones who comment here on tek9 besides the 90% other who instead say thank you for your time and effort.
I agree on the binding completly. Don't even know why we haven't bothered doing it when we specifically purchased a mouse with more buttons to do so ;).
As for the 10% and 90%. That's well known and I also agree. Sadly enough from a communication perspective it's almost always such that the ones which voice their opinion are least representative of what the masses think.
You're bound to always get some negative comments, same with any game (non video-game) that receives commentary. Nonetheless we always try to improve our casts. And in my case i'm only focused on bettering the production quality by testing and tweaking the technical settings and figuring out what kind of refresh rates work best and what not. The commentary depth is something I can't judge as that's A_Spec's cup of tea.
I know the commentary is not your cup of thea but you can't expect us to believe that you don't have any personal feedback on the casting part, I bet you watched it.
The casting in CoD4 should be like football, if the caster say's Messi has the ball more then 80 times in a football match I won't get bored, I can see that he has the ball but still they say it.
You must pretend your on radio and that all the people only listen and don't watch, thats the way people feel they are really in the game. I wouldn't care if stevy gots every first opening pick but I want to hear it, else I could just mute you and watch the game with the killfeed in the left bottom.
Looking back at months of feedback, it doesn't really seem like you've made an effort to adjust your style of casting.
I watched a couple of SAGE vods, and tbh there's a whole lot of shouting and random talk and not much game knowledge or play-by-play analysis. It's a real shame, because you guys seem to do a good job production wise, but I'm constantly tempted to hit that mute button, as the commentary sometimes becomes unberable to listen to.
This is nothing personal, but I've seen a lot of people say the same thing so I can't be way off.
In regards to casting, I think you're great. In terms of your acknowledgement within the game however, it's a different story. Like others have said previous to me everything is perfect other than your knowledge of the game.
If you can improve that, and continue to show progression, I don't see you having problems with anyone ;)
I think in a nutshell the "problem" people have with a_spec is he's just saying whats happening, not commentating. Which imo are 2 completely different things.
Good work loved to watch! :)

Really enjoying the shoutcasting tho.
