The Speech
With the recent success of the Epic.SEVEN event behind us we only have the future to look forward too. With an increased team cap and a eye watering prize pot it's a chance we cannot afford to miss out on. In a racecourse this event really does have a old school iseries feel, without the high cost and profit margins. A quick comparison to I-Series prize pots:
Take a look at Insomnia43, working out the costings at full ticket prices.
Insomnia43: 36 teams - £2500 prize money (£16380 total ticket takings)
Epic.Seven: 4 teams - £750 prize money (£1100 total ticket takings)
Just look at the difference, epic put so much more back into the community! Moving on..these guys really are in it for the love of the game, not to make money but to create a social and competitive environment that everyone can enjoy.
We let them down last time, let's not do it again.

Yes i will be attending the next one!
I really enjoyed epic.SEVEN and tbh I don't see why it couldn't become a solid event for COD4, just need the support from the UK scene.
£2500 is nearly 3,000 euros, that's awesome for a UK event!

I can confirm this at I just got back home from the event and the money is in my bank account already...now where to book a holiday too. :)

I had previously convinced them that they would get 8 teams for epic.SEVEN (Winbar wouldn't let me hear the end of it...) and we could only muster up 4... As people have said before there are multitude of reasons why this happened but I believe that epic.EIGHT will succeed because...
1. It is weeks and weeks away from the nearest iSeries.
2. It is in half term so the students among us can't complain.
3. You guys have seen a successfully run LAN and tournament at epic.SEVEN.
4. The prize money is very generous if you relate it to the ticket price and team amount. (+ Quick Payment)
5. And for the people who aren't hung up on the prize money then epic.LAN is one of, if not THE best UK LAN for social interaction. With a buzzing social hall and bar (With reasonable pricing in-line with your local pub) It is what attracts me to epic.LAN and I know for sure that the majority of the cod community will enjoy the friendly social nature of the organisers and the fellow gamers.
I heard nothing but positive comments from all of the COD players at epic.SEVEN and the organisers had great things to say about our community in comparison to other games that they have had trouble with in the past.
This is a MASSIVE opportunity and I believe it is the last chance to make the epic team stick with COD in the future.

but the way with 24 teams in cod 4 will there be enough space due to the amount off css players or is there another hall as i seem to recall pTER saying there's a hall upstairs... :/ not quite sure though could you or big pter comfirm it for me but yea we'll defo be there for move 3x over time ahahah :D <3
That will only happen if both tournaments fill up. epic.SEVEN's layout was very laxed so rows will be moved closer together if both tourneys get a good turn out.
There is a spare hall upstairs, but the social hall is staying by the bar (for obvious reasons). The competitive side for COD will be in the hall upstairs and part of the hall we were in if we get a full 24 teams.
This will separate the social to the competition, making it more fun to go between the 2 when you finish/start your games.
So don't worry, they have plenty of room to accommodate. :)

Things like putting the GamerFM guys in a different place, using the space to the left as you go in to the main hall and having some 'flexible' seating on the plan (i.e. if you look at www.epiclan.co.uk/epic8/seating you can see we've reserved some for COD4 and some for CSS then whichever of those fills the fastest then starts to move into the 'no mans land' in the middle).
Either way we won't make things uncomfortably cramped.
