Video Card: ZOTAC GeForce 8800 GT

Sound Card: Speakers (Creative SB X-Fi Extreme Music Edition)
Speakers/Headphones: Plantronics
Keyboard: Racer Reclusa
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder
Mouse Surface: QPAD CT
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.090722-1835)

Well I am just hitting 125FPS on Windows 7 on CoD4 which before on XP I was getting a constant 250FPS. Want to stay with 7 as I enjoy using it.
Want a card for around the £120 mark if possible but will enable me to hit a 250 FPS again in CoD4.
Cheers guys :)
260GTX maybe ?

DX11 and better performance than above
Only really play CoD4 and I can use pretty high settings and still pull 250..
HATERS GONNA HATE
A 5770 is slightly better performance than a 4870, and has alot less power consumption.
And DX11 games are around now and more will come, so why get DX10?!
Besides, the 5770 has a much better price/performance ratio than the GTX260 in many an instance and is the better card in the long run due to lower power usage and heat output. As well as that, the 5770 is capable of outpacing the 4890 in several games with a slight overclock.
Tbh, a 5770, 4870 or 4890 will all get 250 fps. Even a 4850 or 8800GTS, so just go for whatevers cheapest. Although something like a 4850 may require a cpu overclock.
On this occasion, mofo is right. ;P
Pick.
5770 is same performance roughly as 4870, can go either way in different games though.
DX11 is shit anyway..
-DVI-Display-PortHDMI Will require less power than ur 8800 and give a massive performance boost. Also the best 5770 on the market. Was on offer at the weekend for £115 but now its £135 a little over your budget but bang for buck probably the best card you can get unless you willing to wait and see what the 5830's deliver. Or to see if theres a price reduction of the gt200 series as the gt400's should be out in about 1-2 months time.
What PSU do you have si? As that would help as well.

The 4870 scores better then the 5770, with quite alot.
Yes the 5770 might be futureproof but if you would a 5770 to play games on DX11, that would prolly still not be enough to run it decently.
I reccomend the 4870 because it's quite cheap and still gives you a great performance.
Wakko I see the vapour aint as good FPS wise as the standard version?
Dont wanna spend to much > 4870
Got enough money to spend > 4890

and then decide whats capable within your budget, think 4890 would be the best

Yes it isn't dx11, but 99% of games are still Dx9 only, and the other 1% have dx10 aswell as dx9.
Will be many, many, many, many years until you cant play games on DX10 hardware. Really don't need to rush to buy DX11 hardware.
And as the topic is about CoD4, which is dx9, definatly get the 4890.

Definatly be worth the wait if it isn't, wont be many games you cant play on full settings.
win

My only concern is that the MB I am on has a Nvidia chipset. Won't I lose performance using an ATi card?

I want to get a 4870, but with my last gfx getting bottled before nabing my mates old cpu, i dont wanna risk it again.
I have:
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 2.00GHZ Overclocked to 2.66Ghz nice and stable.
550W PSU Unknowny
4GB RAM
Run/No bottle :D ? I think it would but never no :3
Get an E5200, it'll still bottleneck to an extent but if you can get it to 3GHz+ (Which I did on a really shit mobo and basic cooling) you'll barely notice it. Ofc pricewise it'll be an extra 40-50 £££. ;P
