I cannot be arsed with all the threads where people ask "will my new PC reach 250 or not?".
I will make it basic for you, so everyone can understand.
- Every PC with a i7 or i5 will reach 250. Alltho you need a graphics card that's >/= 8800GT / hd 3850 and >/=2GB of ram.
- Every PC with a Phenom Quad or high end AMD Dualcore will reach 250 with a graphics card higher than 9600GT / hd 4770.
Systems that will REACH 250, but will not be stable are systems that are like this
E7200/E6750/E6600/Q6600
2GB RAM
HD 4770
Systems that will REACH 250 and will be proper stable with the right settings
E8400/E8500/Q8400/Q9300
4GB RAM
HD 4770 / 8800GTS / 9800GTS
Systems that will NOT reach 250.. I'll sure you'll pull out a proper 125 stable.
< E6600
< 2GB RAM
< 8800GT / hd 3850
With my system, I reach 250 fps very easy and it stays stable.
Phenom II AM3 955 Black Edition
8GB OCZ Platinum 1333MHz
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P
Gainward HD4870 Golden Sample 512mb
700W Power Supply (nexus).
Oh yes I'm mad if anyone has something to add please share it.
THINGS LIKE GAMEBOOSTER AND STUFF WILL NOT COST YOU 50 FPS, IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS BOTTLEKNECKING YOUR PC POST IT HERE.
ALSO, WINDOWS7 OR WINDOWSXP WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR FPS DRASTICLY IN COD4, USE WHATEVER YOU ARE USED TO. I CAN SAY THAT WINDOWS 7 IS FASTER IN USE, AND FASTER IN WRITING DATA.

6Gb 800Mhz RAM
8800GT
Hardly 250, smoke < 100, but I play with highest graphs

4 gb ddr2 ram@1066mhz
msi nvidia 9800GTX+ OC gpu
asus p5q pro motherboard
i wanna upgrade my gpu to a new MSi nvidia gtx 460 hawk talon attack
what do you think ? will i get stable 250 on higher resolutions ? or will i have to overclock a little (cpu or gpu)
thanks mates
you're welcome
just another question :) how much voltage can i put, if i wanna overclock a little more (my cpu)

< E6600
< 2GB RAM
< 8800GT / hd 3850
That's almost exactly my system specs :D I squeeze 250 about 99% of the time
read before you comment something,
Systems that will REACH 250, but will not be stable are systems that are like this
E7200/E6750/E6600/Q6600
2GB RAM
HD 4770
nigga please ;)
Most bottleknecks are CPU or GPU with huge differs (e5300 and HD 6870 for instance). When, as aPPs stated above, you have both a good CPU and GPU, it might be a broken powersupply (i've experienced this in the past) or to low memory (i7 - hd 4890 should run with atleast 4GB or 6GB ram).
< E6600
< 2GB RAM
< 8800GT / hd 3850 "
that's exactly my system and I do reach 250 fps relative stable tho :D
I got a E6750 OC @ 3.2 + 2giga + 8800 gt exo edition (on a syncmaster T220 22')
800 x 600 = 250 rock solid
1024 = Rock solid in low details (AA off)
1280 x 1024 it starts to lower in backlot or in smokes
and this phenomena amplifies with the resolutions.
So plz if u can post ur resolutions when u say how much fps you get because then it s all random .
my 2 cents
ATI 9800
512KB RAM.
250? Yes please.

4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT240 1GB
450W PSU
what cpu should I buy??
was thinking Q6600 but there is like Q8300 400 etc and I don't really know the difference.
6 gb ram @ 1600 mhz
2x 9800GTX+
250 fps but not steady
I'm playing at 1680x1050 120Hz..
MSI n260 GTX
2gb ram
1920x1080 250 no problem

will i get stable 250 on 1680x1050 or 1920x1080
thanks
ATI Rad HD 4850 1GB
4GB RAM
1360*768 (widescreen monitor)
Used to be able to stable 250 but now a fluctuating 250, but in quite a few areas in every map it drops down (150 is the lowest its been i think).
Atm capping at 125 as its annoying with the drop fluctuations. Gna try and mess with the settings.
Any ideas as to why its dropped?
