in cs 1.6 for aim 640x480 > 800x600 cause the lower resolution have less pixels so its easier to aim / hit your targets ( it was something like this )
i don't know if the same applies for cod4 ! on cod4 i play with 800x600 simply because i can't get steady 250 on higher resolution, and 640x480 looks rlly shit in cod4 !
640x480 looks terrible but when i play on 800x600 my fps just isn't enough. So i have been playing on 640x480 for a long time now..and i do not like it
i play 800 x 600 4:3 for long time got 250 fps even in smoke and i see evrything so its all bout preferences of what your best with and what your computer can handle
advantages on 640x480 are the low pixes = very easy to hit/aim the targets and the higher and more stable fps , disadvantage is just the game is very ugly and sometimes its hard to see enemies .
Stable FPS, I tried 640x480 and it seems like the walls have less details and its so much easier to spot players head on distance..your choice, try 800x600 85 hz.
played on 800x600 for 2 years lol with my 8600 GT had no issue about it back then now playing @ 1650x1050 first i didnt like to play at this resolution but i got used to it now
I'm using 800x600 and it's fucking horrid tbf , u can't see enemies in long distance etc , getting new pc next week ,going to be proper mad if I have this windows 7 fps bug and can't get 250 :DD
i myself play on 720x576 just for the recoil. you SEE less recoil, its not true but you see it less. And due to my shit pc i play on that. been playing on it for like a year now. Not so bad after all
Seeing comments like " looks so ugly "etc, promod aint about beauty of houses and other objects, its about visibility combined with performance, therefore 800x600 is perfect choice if you are ak47 because on distance you see the walls/objects on the poor and yet simple way, making yourself to spot anyone without mistake.
having played on both for a long time as my comp cant reach 125 steady (even on 640x480) i can say that i prefer 800x600. if you put the textures on high and use commands such as /r_detail 0 etc it becomes a very effective way of seeing the enemies, whilst not compromising on performance. i would definately go with 800x600 any day of the week.
Its not like we are playing CS 1.6 here. :)

With my new computer I play 1440x900 (my monitor's resolution) at stable 250 :)

Have you connected proper DVI cable? You must have "DVI dual-link" to get 120hz.
EDIT: it looks so fucking ugly lmao.

Reason i use it: its fucking sick and just makes the game feel nicer.

Come at me.
