Most of you have heard of YITCH3, the go to CFG for FPS. As some of you may also know, this CFG can be further tweaked to boost FPS. The point of this thread is to get
THE MOST FPS out of your system, by optimizing your video card, your OS display settings, and your CFG.
Before doing any of the following, I would recommend creating a system restore point. Although I have never encountered any problems while doing this, it is better to be safe than sorry.
NON-ATI USERS! CONTROL + F " NVIDIA." The following sections are NOT FOR YOU!

REMOVING ATI DRIVERS
1. Navigate to "Programs and Features." Select the "AMD Catalyst Install Manager." Choose and complete the express uninstall.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Download and install
Driver Sweeper from the link below.
4. Run Driver Sweeper and check the following files:

UPDATING ATI DRIVERS
Next, you're going to want to update your video card drivers. AMD has created a useful tool for automatically detecting your hardware/OS and updating drivers.
AMD AUTODETECT
support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
If you would rather find your own drivers, you can do so here:
support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
1. Download and install your drivers.
2. Reboot if/when asked to following the installation.
3. Run AMD VISION Engine Control Center and check to see if the installation was successful. Open AMD VISION Engine Control Center > Information > Software to check your driver version.
TWEAKING IN AMD VISION ENGINE CONTROL CENTER
Now that you have updated your video drivers, it is time to tweak your 3D settings in AMD VISION Engine Control Center. If you leave these settings on their default values, your FPS in-game will be hindered by conflicting settings in your CFG and AMD VISION Engine Control Center.
1. Open AMD VISION Engine Control Center.
2. Navigate to "Gaming," or the section which lists 3D settings.
3. Apply the following values to these different 3D settings:
-
SMOOTHVISION HD: Anti-Aliasing / Use application settings.
-
SMOOTHVISION HD: Anisotropic Filtering / Use application settings.
-
Catalyst A.I. / Advanced.
-
Mipmap Detail Level / High Performance.
-
Wait for vertical refresh / Always Off.
-
OpenGL Settings / (UNCHECK) Triple buffering.

TWEAKING IN THE NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL
Now that you have updated your video drivers, it is time to tweak your 3D settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. If you leave these settings on their default values, your FPS in-game will be hindered by conflicting settings in your CFG and the NVIDIA Control Panel.
1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.

TWEAKING YOUR OS
WINDOWS 7
You may wish to simplify your display in order to to maximize your computer's performance. There are a few ways of doing so.
The easiest way to do this is by applying the "CLASSIC" or "BASIC" windows themes. Do so by:
1. Right click desktop > Personalize.
2. Choose either "WINDOWS 7 BASIC" or "WINDOWS CLASSIC."
The other way of simplifying your OS appearance, and the one I prefer, is:
1. Start > Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Advanced Tools > Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
2. Tick the "CUSTOM" option, and untick all of the options except:
- Animations in the taskbar and Start Menu.
- Enable desktop composition.
- Enable transparent glass.
- Fade or slide menus into view.
- Show window contents while dragging.
- Smooth edges of screen fonts.
- Smooth-scroll list boxes.
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons.

TWEAKING YOUR CFG
Finally, it is time to \exec STEVY.CFG...
OR, you can do the following.
www.gamerconfigs.com/configs/ENOEWO
1. Download my CFG from the link above.
2. Open the CFG with Notepad.
3. Edit the binds to your liking.
4. CONTROL + F.
5. Search "". The commands that appear next to these empty quotes are the commands which YOU must fill with your own values. ALL other commands have been optimized, BRO.
6. Save the CFG.
7. Set the CFG as read only.
8. Back up your current CFG.
9. Copy into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\(PROFILE NAME)"
10. Acquire currency.
THAT'S IT, ENJOY!

denna guide suger btw
That's like posting on a car add for a low end model.
" I already have a Ferrari which is much better and 50x more expensive then this car but for those with a low income it's good. "
Thanks for your input it was 100% not needed bro.
OT - Great post, worth a sticky if it all works out imo!
I wouldn't remove the ATI WDM thing in Windows 7. I used to do it in XP with no problems and I tried it in 7 and just got a black screen after booting
Thanks.
Edit: don't DL ATT if you don't have a single GPU from ATI/AMD (or a Xfire), i.e. for gaming laptops or a few desktops with a combo Intel Graphics+AMD Graphics (solution to reduce the consommation).

can u make a part for the nvidia gfx
Ok here, my settings for my shit laptop, they are different on my gaming one XD
Yes, there are only a few things they added in ATT, but as I said, you can tweak everything.
You would recommend ATT over CCC?
Hm.. no I would not, I'm using both, ATT is like a complement, CCC has some options ATT doesn't have, because they always update it and ATT doesn't have a recent version :
Changelog
[+] Enabled new A.I. functionality for HD5xxx series
Radeon HD 6000 Series are now supported!
The last version from Guru3D is the stable one, but the last Ray Adams made is a beta, you can find it on the website: www.atitraytools.tk/
I gave more details about it earlier but I was using the wifi from the uni and it didn't edit my post, because I had to log in again before posting. I'll do it later.
Edit: guys be careful if you use ATT you have to know what you're doing so use Google XD. Hey ENOEWO I think some guys still make drivers like ATT for Nvidia, but I don't remember the name.
edited 2011-09-29 18:47:53
So, you're supposed to use only one. I might give ATT a try, although I think I'm already pushing my card to it's limit.
Thanks for the information.
If CCC is better, I guess I won't use ATT anymore :/
The NVIDIA Control Panel and CCC changes compliment the CFG.

enoewo
I think you're referring to Catalyst Control Center, etc. AND NOT THE VIDEO CARD DRIVERS THEMSELVES?
In that case, I think the point in doing a clean uninstall is to avoid problems with new drivers. This process shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes!
If you run into trouble, add me on XF:
enoewo
I'll leave the current link though, as I'd like to keep track of the downloads! Thanks.
*I've updated the OP. It should now list what you see in Catalyst Control Center, or Engine Control Center.

This config up there allows it somehow haha
It's always been allowed. As far as I know, I left that command blank in my .CFG.
I would appreciate it as I think that my NVIDIA section is outdated.
Also, is there a simpler way to uninstall NVIDIA drivers than what I have listed?
Thanks.
2. Choose either "WINDOWS 7 BASIC" or "WINDOWS CLASSIC."
how much difference does this make?
I don't know how much it helps, but it should free up some memory, in theory.
I would do the step listed just below that, and remove any visual features you don't want to use.
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\EventCache or PostRebootEventCache.
