Yep, you read it right. To some it might come as a positive surprise, for some as a uncomfortable bomb. I bet the rumour even have been floating around already. Either way the development of 4.42 have been in the silent since the TCA votings. But as it's getting more clear we need a update in the scene we feelt it was time to release the most comprehensive Promod yet.
WHATS NEW IN PROMOD 4.42 (CHANGELOG):
Promod 4.22 damage & multipliers
After seeing the scene getting used to Live's hitboxes we decided it wasn't time for the Promod 4.41 "harder" hitboxes. So in short, except smoother and faster, the gameplay shouldn't be any different from what you are used to.
Enhanced code
Now even smaller and smoother than before (up to 10% smaller in size than Live). With parts of the system rewamped to run even better. Some experience both better FPS and better general hitreg.
Reworked Shoutcaster overlay
Faster and better. Now with support for all resolutions and aspect ratios, including widescreen.
Preserved Class Loadouts
Your preferences in weapons, camo and attachments are now saved and will automatically loaded time after time (until changed). This doesn't only make the match setup faster but also very convenient for the players switching class mid-game. This together with the Class related binds function it even faster!
Class related binds
Classes can now be bound to keys for faster mid-game class switches. Together with the Preserved Class loadouts function you get even faster and more accurate!
Can be done manually i config or through game menu.
Extended gametype support
Includes full Hardcore support, aswell as SAB, KOTH and DOM gametypes.
In other words; Promod can now be played by everyone!
Scorebot
A scorebot has been added.
Strat mode
A new strat mode is added. Includes nadetraining possibilities (similar to AM4PAM) and detailed range, hit and damage information.

- Enhanced client- and server-security.
- Small changes/improvments to the hud and menus.
- Players left display is moved to the hud and therefore possible to get rid of for those nice-looking frag-movies.
- Fixed red enemy crosshair in smoke.
- Forced the Weapon Cycle Delay dvar ("cg_weaponCycleDelay") to a minimum of 25 to prevent fast reload scripts.
- Works on all maps (including mp_killhouse).
- Forced mod location (fsgame path) to prevent missmatch errors, and to allow cross server rankfile saving.
- Built in MG- and "pigeon" fix.
- All taunts sounds removed.

I want to make clear this is NOT about either fame and glory, nor a cheap way to backstab any of those behind earlier versions of Promod. Especially Carlisle. This is our vision, the vision of how we want the mod we play everyday to be; A broad proactive and comprehensive competition mod suited for everyone.
At this point Promod 4.42 is nothing but a challanger. In the end its all up to you, those who play the game.

No we are not, at all. We thought it was needed, and that the current Live wasn't up to date. Now what happens after isn't up to us. We just thought the scene needed an update. Or most important a proactive and comprehensive mod that everyone can play.

Be glad there is some competition between the mod makers, without nothing would ever improve.
Am glad the produced a new promod, if the general cod4 community plays it or not, it gives a sign the the game is still alive and maybe still can be improved.
Now, all out of the blue, comes this mod with "revolutionary" changes that no1, I repeat, no1, apart from the modmakers Swedish friends, have been asking for. It seems quite selfish and egocentric when you keep trying to get people to play your mod when there's absolutely no demand for anything to change.
Bottom line is, you're hurting the game more than you're helping it, by "splitting" up things again (well, 3 .SE's vs the rest of the community, cant really call it splitting), which is quite contradictory to what most Mod-Makers try to accomplish, which is, helping the community out.
No one makes you play the mod. Summer Lans doesn't have to use it. We released a mod we thought are going to be useful. In the end it ofcourse up to the players. This wont change a thing.. except that there's atleast a choice.
I guess the states more than doing then. Maybe thats problem. I don't know. This "our" Promod, he's doing his. And his the official one.
If people like that better we can't do much.

Im taking a while with v2/v1.1 because im making sure it thorough. and an update isn't urgent in the slightest bit.

Yes, us players only have to connect and it's all sorted. The problem is when Trivve gets feedback on minor tweaks and bugs that could be fixed in this version, he will start tweaking this and that, and we will have several new versions of his new mod before we get a "final" one, could be 2 versions, could be a bunch. It might spark the "mod-wars" again, with someone else in the place of Carlisle (as I think he said he lost the code/wasn't gonna make a new mod), and we're fucked for the next 2 months with constantly changing versions. I don't want to give up the stability in the current "mod-scene" for a few small fixes/tweaks in this Mod, for which I've learned to live with anyway.. :s

I was just taking my time trying to get it ready Properly, so it could be the only release for another few months.

I'm glad Carlisle is making a V2 also, as he said he's going to take his time over it. There is no rush at all, hell it might not ever see the light of day if it's not needed. No 1, let me repeat - NO-ONE is moaning about the game anymore.

That is what it was originally, but trivve made it clear that the reason he was doing it was for fame and not for Call of Duty 4.

The reason for his first own release was the inactivity from your side. But I guess it's all good .. it atleast gets you moving.
