I know you meant YOU in general but since you were discussing with JETSET it kinda looked like you attacked him. :)
And it's not because we are a community website and have a rankingpointsystem you are obligated to comment as much as possible to be on top of that ranking, there's also a way to get those points on a normal way. This is for all users and not only for the ones who are 'competing' for the first spot. |

Basically ranking points are numbers on you're profile that add up when you update something on the site such as a forum post, a blog update etc.
It has come to our attention and is baltently obvious that a handful of people on the new website are just abusing the system to get number one in the ranking points. I'm sorry to say, but that is just sad. What will you achieve from reaching number one? E-Hero status or something? You will achieve nothing so I say now, it is pointless even trying to get to number one.
I wouldn't mind, but this handful of people don't even read half the stuff that is put up on this website. They are usually the people who comment in the first few moments of a news post or article that is put up. What is the point in being apart of a website when you're not even interested in half the stuff that the website provides?
I don't like naming people so I won't, but Camiel and others are absoloutely right. For example when I made the DreamHack finals blog post, someone was one of the first to comment asking me to put up a summary because they couldn't be bothered to read it. If you cannot be bothered to read it then don't comment until you can. Basically if it doesn't suit your interest then your comments don't suit the interest of the blog also.
Another person I have seen abusing the system is somebody who is posting comments on old things and not reading them. I look back on even the oldest of articles on our site and there is one comment for most of them, usually saying "nice read". Again, it wouldn't bother us if you actually read the interview but it's obvious you aren't The first two articles on the site from the old site are the interview with kickR and one with Trigger. The kickR comment you posted was at "2007-11-27 15:45:53" and the comment you posted on the Trigger interview was at "2007-11-27 15:44:21". I think I know it didn't take this person a minute to read one interview, then the other.
This has got to stop. As Camiel mentioned, we appreciate the activity of you guys but there is a limit when it comes to this.
We added points to the newsposters last night as an experiment as to how some of you would react. We predicted flame and whining and we have gotten it. At the end of the day ranking points won't amount to anything, so this handful of people are wasting their time.

yes i spammed, i don't deny it, but it was after some saturday night-drinking action so sry for that D:
but other than shakur i read all of the newsposts(lineup-statements sometimes not instantly, but later when i have more time)
and the spamming in the first couple of days was a habit from the old tek9-site which will disappear |
