i started using 400 on my g5 because it was too fast for me in windows or in gamemenu when you switching weapons. yesterday i tryed 2000 and it was rly weird so i put it back :p |

[(current DPI)x(current in-game sensitivity)] / (new DPI) = (new in-game sensitivity)
Crunch the numbers and it should feel the same, higher dpi theoretically means better/faster response but its all a personal preference in the end. |

wouldn't it be better to have it higher as the more dpi (dots per inch) you have, the more precise it would be? |

Yes,
This article helped me out a lot when setting up my mouse. Its for counter strike so some of the stuff doesnt apply to cod4 (obviously) but a majority of the mouse stuff is very helpful.

ive tested like 400,800 and 2000 and for me the difference is reponse. 2000dpi is very fast, quite nimble and accurate but you have to control it. 400 dpi was very smooth, solid and controlled and 800 was somewhere in between.
Its all down to personal preference really. I like 2000dpi because its fast and feels more responsive to me but there are pros and cons to both.
As for hz, well, logically 1000 is the best as the mouse actually performs better but again some people dont like 1000 and it can be down to personal preference. |

Highest DPI u can use and 1000hz is the best, technically, although people who have been using other settings for a long long time and got used to it might find it weird. |

that works theoretically but different dpi has an overall different feel when playing :) |

Higher would be better, I suppose, if we were playing a direct input game. Because we aren't, then theres more to be considered. |

400 tbh, but i use to use 800 just because i was use to it. People buy into the 2000dpi lazer tazer phazers on mice and think it makes that much of a difference. the higher the better if u want it to pick up every tiny movement of ur mouse (which i wouldnt expect you do) |
