Weird FPS drop for ~5 seconds

Hello,
Lately, since about 1 week, I've been having some really odd problem with CoD4.
At random moments (at least it seems that way) my fps drops from 110-125 to 30 or something.
It continues for about 5 seconds and then everything is normal again.
It's completely random I think because it happens in complete calm (with no 1 around) and with intense fights..
I've done a spy / ad- aware check, nothing came out. Atm virusscanning but I dont expect to see anything special there.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? |

had the same but it solved itself or summit :x
havent got the problem since last monday if im not mistaken
btw norton is taking away way to much of ur ram, just use avg or nod32 idd |

normaly I have 125 fps, and when I come to smoke at the same time 30 you advise me someone?) my pc set Athlon x2 6000 +
GeForce 8800GT
2 gb ram: X
operating system: widows vista
even if this should widows xp and me to do too |

I had this problem a while back , i REFORMATED and it all went fine smooth again maybe you should try it :]

i reformated already, but still the same problem. fps drops for like 1 minute and then everything normal again for like 5 rounds |

it might be ur config mate im not sure. make sure u got the latest drivers for ur graphics card :]
i dont know if that would help or
if u have norton i think it is that . i think that done that to me last time i reformated without norton in im all good :] maybe its norton not sure :]

btw. i dont have these fps drop laggs on some servers, but on the most i have them. for example: i dont have these laggs on the eSuba pub server, but i have the laggs on the Serious gaming pub server
why the hell =/ |

how can a config have any influence on lagdrops, thats just total bullshit, check your RAM usage in windows, or CPU usage. Prolly there's something going wrong. if its below 50% both its good imo. If u still have problems just try to reinstall windows.

#55 just a guess but because of the drawing details etc.
I swear when i played on my old pc i used to lag like crazy using configs and commands that would draw things only directly infront of me. It seemed fine when i drew everything alittle further away
The biggest notible difference i ever noticed was age of conan, setting drawing distance further made it so my game wasnt choppy, the things were preloaded and i had a tiny bit lower fps but i then never seemed to drop |

#58, thats just strange :P most of the time when u put distance view further its way harder for the pc and that can cause lagdrops :P but maybe it works otherwise now ;) haha |

just adding my experiences but i definately remember using a certain config and i would keep lagging - moreso at the start of rounds than anything else
