Hmm, interestingly enough there isnt a new thread for the 1.8 release.

Anyway, regarding the new release of beta 1.8c, Does anyone feel that the rego has significantly changed since maxpackets isnt locked on 63? It is ALOT more random now, sometimes the rego is amazing the others it isnt

I am not raging you raf1 (you get affended quite often) I'm just interested as to why the rego feels so different now?

Ok so I just thought i'd apologise if I caused any offense with my ranting about promod.

I've played with it a lot today and I changed my config and it's much better.

It's still not perfect, and I think the reg issue is the main problem, but it's occuring a lot less now i've changed config.

If anyone else is having issues with reg then you can download my config :) It makes a big difference.

something like 2 shot kill hs and chest, 3 shot kill lower torso and upper leg and 4 shot kill feet and arms (SMG)

Not sure if its possible like that but it could be worth trying.
Even though I think it would still be too easy to spray 2 or 3 people in quick succession


change the damange multiplyers for the hit locations that are included in the mod.ff i belive.

When you raise sv_fps to 30, quite a few things happen, and there are more downsides to raising it than upsides.. also; there are more issues with it being anything other than 20.. I just post the signifigant ones.

- Physics get whacky. Some/most/all physics that are hard coded to sv_fps 20 wake up too early/too late. They can be fixed, but they won’t be as accurate as they would be with it being 20, since 30 doesn’t divide evenly. Timers are the most common thing to get broken.. Any animations that are controlled server side can also be broken.

- G_RunFrame() is called at 33.3ms intervals on the server. Sometimes, it will get called a frame or 2 late, or 2 early, because of rounding errors.

- Prediction gets fubared, since the built-in engine lag of 50ms is reduced to 33ms, which means there isn’t as much data to predict/interpolate for. High pingers notice this more than low pingers (you can even debug prediction errors to see for yourself)

- Antilag is affected, but nobody uses it because it’s broken. I think IW used/uses a point release from ID with busted antilag.

I’ve always told people to stick with using sv_fps of 20, because things are hard coded around it, and fixing them gets messy.


tbh ive never any complaints regarding reg w/ 20 fps. There is definitely something going on. Why fix what isnt broken? :[

Just played it on dignitas server...

Its good, a lot of moaning coming from the ak74u users though?

Reg seems random as fuck though, sometimes it was perfect and sometimes the bullets went through the enemy?

Been away for 3 week so i don't quite know whats happening with the scene but I'm hearing mixed opinions on pro mod.

Respect to the guys who put this mod in motion, some people seem to forget that.

Can i get a few answers?

Is it getting used @ i34? Aef?

Overall, is it better than pam4?

Was it used at CLUK21?

The reason you're getting random reg -i think- is because the way you have to aim has changed due to the hitboxes being more up to date with the models.

eg

pam, hitboxes trailed the model due to slow update rate (sv_fps 20) so aiming ON the model was actually leading the hitboxes.

promod, hitboxes are where the model is, so you now have to lead the model

note leading the model is caused by ping delay

But I'm not aving trouble with moving targets...its the stationary ones that are the problem :|

So if I understood you right:

with sv_fps 30 the hitboxes don't lag so you need to aim ahead of the model according to your ping in order to hit him.

with sv_fps 20 the hitboxes lag so you need to aim on the model to get reg.

What I don't understand why aiming ahead of the model is better than aiming at the model itself >.<. ofc at lan when playing with <5 ping it's better to have the hitboxes on the models but online with ping >50 it surely is better to have a system thats regs when shoot at the model itself and not infront of it.

Surely shooting and regging ON the model and not ahead of it improves the skill and aim factor of the game.
