Basically im looking to change my ISP with orange keeping interleaving on and i cant make head or tail for the operators i get with Orange when i ring up.
I was checking around and found ADSL24 seems to be pretty good for gaming and ping wise. Anyone got any suggestions on ADSL24 or any other ISP? Feel free to post below
Thanks |

BT, any problems and me + darren can sort you out in no time :D
If you decide to go for someone else though, make sure and check here to see if your exchange actually supports their service.

its not bad for a tenner a month for 16meg. you get what you pay for |
I played with 80+ ping on all servers for a very long time with SKY. I used to get 30-40 when I had BT. They refuse to turn interleaving off but i managed to get my ping dropped but it still is not great at all, nowhere as good as when I had BT. |

I get an average of 35 ping on Uk Servers 40 on NL.
The download speeds are superb, easily speeds up to 2mb on downloads!
Their service is absolutely sensational, they kept me updated via text, and email of every step of the change over
The call centres answer, and are English.
All this compared to when I was with Pipex I got an average of 53ping, and max DL speed of 500kb if I was lucky.
I don't see any spikes at all at any time.. I'm quite far from my exchange also! |

Problem with asking about for isp info is that it all depends on where u live, i cannot get low pings on any company using bt lines, since i live so far away from the exchange, where as virgin's exchange is in my town, so i will get a much lower ping, but ive found with both my connection, i used my BT/Zen alot more than my virgin. Virgin buggered up so often. |

ryan has UKonline afaik and he gets like 19ping ingame to UK servs, dno about his DL speeds.
So if you want uber low ping go for them i suppose :p |
yeah I have UKOnline, and I have never had any problems. Their service is amazing because they are a small unknown company (you call up and within 30 mins they have sorted problem).
Plus I get about 15 - 25 ping on UK servers and 30 - 40 NL etc.
And my download speeds are excellent, 500 - 800kb/s depending on where you're dling from etc. (and I only have 5mb, you can get up to 16mb I think so ;))
trust me, BT + Virgin can be decent but you will get MORE problems in a week than you ever will with UKOnline, there is definetly not a better ISP out there.

When this problem occurs i do have connection cos i normally shout down vent "CAN U HEAR ME?!" and yeah they can hear moi. |

Don't know how many times this has been said, but it's generally pointless asking for feedback on a nationwide forum with regards ISP's.
The fact is, each individual is specific, factors such as exchange distance etc influence each persons service. This is demonstrated in the mass difference of opinion between JaMie and reko regards Virgin.
One chap might have Virgin and have only good things to say, another guy ( living twice as far from the exchange ) may slate it like fuck.
You're best to ask gamers in your area of the country, as close to your home as possible, in order to get accurate and reliable feedback.
NOTE: BT is sick for me, reliable as fuck and once i got interleaving switched off, pings are more than acceptable. |

It's not so much regestration that is increased.
My understanding of 'ping' is that it's the speed at which you and the server are able to exchange information back and forth.
For instance, if you click shoot, and your ping in server is 150, the time it takes for the server to process what you've clicked is increased.
As such, with a lower ping, your reactions will be sharper in the eyes of the enemy.
On the negative side, it's far easier for opposition to hit a guy with a decent ping, than someone lagging about the place on 150. |

No it's not. I do see your point it's difficult to predict the quality of someones line but there are lots of other aspects that make a big difference.
For example with my new ISP my connection has improved i'd say 300% downloads are fast as hell, and my ping is at least 20ms better in game. I haven't moved house.
Also it's pretty much gospel that Sky and Tiscali are terribad.
BT are generally good. |

Try freedom2surf, its what I have and I've never had any problems with it. Download speed always runs at the lines limit (as long as source allow), and I ping 40 in most uk servers, and 80 max in far european servers, eg Italy. |
