That concludes version 1 of COD5 information.
With what he was just read we can see that COD5 seems like an improved COD4 game with all its aspects and has added the weaponry from the old COD versions 1, UO and 2.
What will happen with the first ruleset is yet unclear, but we will find that out soon enough after playing the beta.

You ever stop and think how many of those 10mln cod4 copies were PC and CONSOLE. let's say the PC version sold 4mln (that is being generous) and then 5% (the ammount is really that low) plays competitive. That means 200.000 competitive players. Seems like an alright ammount worldwide.
So you guys actually think that when the competitive scene neglects to buy COD5 it will really hurt Activision... Try getting a normal day job people.
With promod already in development for COD5 it should not be long after the final release date that the mod will reach it's first stable version.
I am head admin at CC5 and I have been told it will be COD4. I know nothing different then that.
From January 2009 COD5 will replace COD4 as the competitive game to play and people will play it. |

Yea i did a bit of researching myself.
Fact is, today's developers don't really care about 'pro gamers'.

Its not about the developers.. Its about the sponsors and the amount of lans and pricemoney their 2 keep a game alive.
Look @ 1.6 for the last 2 years its not about the grapics and its not played alot anymore on publics and just peeps who play for fun..But still sponsors stay Lans are their and the pricemoney stays aswel.
So you can keep cod4 alive if the big teams would stay in cod4 cause when the big teams dont move most of the competitive scene doesnt move aswel (again look @ 1.6) |

It might not be a large percentage, but I guarentee you that developers pay a LOT of attention to the competitive scene in their games, because the competitivness is a major factor in the games staying ability.
A game can be good and die off quick if it has a crap multiplayer, but a game with a solid multiplayer and good support will be played for years to come.
I got the opportunity to work with ubisoft on farcry 1 and now with farcry 2, I have seen first hand what happens to games with a bad muiltiplayer. And I have faught long and hard to get ubisoft to sort their shit out because its looking like farcry 2 will suffer the same death. Activision/IW is actually the leading example in how to develop + maintain games. CoD4 in particular has been exceptional, the support that IW has given the competitive community has been brilliant, and the reason why cod4 sold so much was, due to a considerable ammount to their support and development of cod1/uo/2. Im aware a lot of people buy games for the single player, but your numbers are missing something, sure not a lotof people play the games COMPETITIVLEY but they certainly play them for the multiplayer, just on the casual side.
Now I've written too much and forgotten what I was actually talking about
