COD4 vs. COD5

How do you view the possible PC release of COD5, perhaps as soon as winter this year?
Here are a few thoughts/questions:
1. If Activision are as keen to promote COD5 as they were COD4 then for example, at multiplay i35/i36/i37 whenever the game might be realeased, it is likely there will be more money involved with the new game.
Would this force your team to move over to the new game even if it is not as good, or would you be more likely to stick with COD4?
2. How would you view the release of a new Call Of Duty game every year for example?
This would bring adaptability more fully into the list of
skills needed to achieve in the game, but would it also hinder teams reaching any real level of competance?
3. If the new game is slower with the reintroduction of rifles do you think that a split in the community is likely? Will the oldskool players/teams move to 5 and the new wave of gamers stick with 4?
4. Vehicles - In my opinion should clearly not be included in any form of competitive multiplayer. Will they spoil the game on release and stop people persevering until mods are made? Could multiplay for example do a release tournament like with COD4 including vehicles?
What are your thoughts on the game?
Will you wait to see what the game is like before making a commitment?
Do you hate COD4 and will play COD5 no matter what?
If the majority of skilled teams stick with COD4, will you stay even if COD5 is e-mazing?
With the Call Of Duty series becoming far more popular and more able to pull in money for LANS will the release of COD5 halt this progress?

Vehicules can be disabled by a simple server sided command.
I first thought that cod5 will surely be a battlefield like game when I saw the trailer and first screenshots.
Then I saw some screenshots from maps with carentan/caen cities graphics like.

This game will slipt the community for sure but I guess cod4 will stay as the reference cod competitive game.
wait & see |

Call of Duty cannot afford to be released every year, because if that happens we will never have a community as big as other games.
COD4 is far better than cod2 due to the fact it is less random, that makes it better for competition.
COD5 is made by another company not by IW so probably it will be a failure.
I think the game will split the community for sure old school are going to go to COD5...

the big teams will be forced to go to cod5 at the start due to sponsors etc
likes at lans if there is a big prize pot for cod5 then of course more teams are gunna go for that |

cod5 hasnt been released yet, therefore you cant say cod4 is better.
but cod 4 has been released and i can say it is one of the worst games available on the market. only thing that keeps it going is the strong multilayer community.
anyway i could talk allay about why i hate cod4, back to the topic - please wait untill it is released and then you can spam topics about your worthless opinion.
and rofl kick all of what you said is untrue. |

kick is right on 1 point and that is about the community not getting as expanded as for other games due to the fast releases.

The big teams part, +1
The teams for as far the top teams are going to be the same, but there will be many new teams i think when i hear people talking now.
Many average teams are saying the release is way to soon and that they stick to cod4.
This would meen that there are probably going to be teams from players who first were playing other games.
Anyways, can't say much about the succes now.
Hope it's going to be a nice game, i'm going to try it for sure |

Unfortunately the producers of the series aren't easily presuaded by arguments from the competetive side of the community, considering that the majority of the players will be public players who's only goal is reaching rank 55 and hitting the top of the scoreboard on 20v20 bloc domination.
It sucks that they'll bring out a new game every year, it will definitely split the community and halt the progression of the call of duty series in the major competitions, but as I said, I don't think the makers are too bothered considering we're not the main source of money. The only way I can see the community not being split is that if cod5 turns out to be complete and utter garbage that nobody wants to play it. =[ tears.

I really don't care, the only thing that can arouse my interest in the future might be the new RTCW.
I'm gonna check out the COD5 SP though, just out of curiosity (unless the MP is suddenly godlike, which I doubt). |

IMO i dont think i36 will have any prize money for cod5 put in by Activision, as trenchyard made it, so it might just be a UO (even tho i liked uo:P)
And that will only be i36, if other lans do what the community want, e.g. crossfire AEF2 etc. COD4 shuld still go strong for a while |
