An initiative was started not too long ago by several of the still present and active Call of Duty 2 community to organize and host an incentive for the teams to keep on playing the game they love. RG-Esports was at the forefront of this initiative and actively supports the cup by having it hosted on their website.
The concept was quite simple, all teams would pay a small sign-up fee in order to participate and all of the money woul then flow back into the RAGE CoD2 Challenge, thus gathering a €560 prize purse with sixteen teams participating and having to pay a fee of €35 for each team. Those sixteen teams have then been divided into two groups and the best four out of each group will then advance to the Playoffs.
Those eight teams who will have made it to the Bracket stage will then be met with a huge Double Elimination Best-of-Three format that will not only see them play a lot of matches, but will determine between each match-up which team could be considered to be the best in the most fair way. The top three will then be met with the rewarding prize purse, with a total of €340 going to the overall winner.
The response by the community was slow to react, but eventually the RAGE CoD2 Challenge managed to attract a total of sixteen teams and is currently in its third week of matches, with arguably the strongest teams left in the game all participating and hoping to win the match. The matches themselves are also being streamed by RAGE TV and if you are interested, you should be able to find some of those matches soon.
if any of the teams could provide me (either in a reply or in a pm on the site) with the maps they've played on, that would be tremendous :) I'll add them in the Group Stage thingie then...
There have been quite some streams but since most stream are done by persons rather than organisations the streams are not really announced but spread trough xfire etc.
nope...totally agree that most teams participating are on an equal level...but on dawn/burg teamplay matters way more than on toujane, which can even be decided by 1-2 players going huge, That´s what we had to figure out (as expected) vs gject on burg. The wheat will be seperated from the chaff in the playoffs...
@ smoker...this would definitely boost our winning chances :D
no offense but the skillevel of teams is not equal at all. BO1 mr12 is just random. Any team can have a good start on a map and secure the win, has nothing to do with the skillevel of a team.
For example: We (rage) and Gject are easily one of the best teams skillwise in this cup, but are not doing well so far.
It's an online cup after all. If the cup should be offline, THAN it would be really interesting to see what teams would perform :D
no, im not whining..we just played shit in the cup the first 3 matches

There's no sort of advertising around here ;(
@ David. It's hard as teams usually decide only few hours before they'll play at that certain time.
You can add me on xfire, i'm doing streams on regular basis.
