Multiplay insomnia40 - Introduction

Today, Multiplay's insomnia40 will be going live with prize tournaments in the games Call of Duty 4, Counterstrike: Source, Team Fortress 2, Starcraft 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Heroes of Newerth. Not only this, but also featuring at the event will be the UK World Cyber Games qualifier and several fun tournaments.

The CoD4 event this time will feature returning champions Team Dignitas attempting to hold onto their title, against a field of talented UK sides. The all-star lineup of Fragmasters, are tipped as the main challengers for the top spot. Hot on the heels of the two favourites are a number of upcoming UK sides, as well as a few talented mix teams put together for this event.

This follows the pattern of i39, where the only top 10 side was Team Dignitas. Coupled with the reversion back to "insomnia" as the prefix for the event number, it looks like Multiplay are going back to their roots as a social LAN. That said, while it might look like the top few places are already decided, the competition for the lower few prize spots will be intense.

The prize pot is triggered, and currently stands at a total £2080, with 32 teams signed up. The breakdown will be: 50% for first place, 25% for second, 17.5% for third and 7.5% for 4th place. This works out as follows:
