IEM S5 World Championship Finals - Introduction

Posted by Bob Bcrbo Van de Voorde on 2011-02-26 14:38:38

With just a couple of days to go before the start of the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship Finals, taking place in the German city of Hannover during CEBIT, the community is looking intensely at the last-minute preparations of the different players to see who will be the most likely favourite heading into this biggest Quake Live event of the year.

Over the last two weeks, the pro players have seriously stepped up their practice regimes and should nearly all be spiking towards their top skill level around now and feel at ease with the game. Some of them have even made the journey to Europe relatively early, trying to get in some extra practice as well as getting used to lower pings and the LAN feel of a tournament.

With a total of $20,000 up for grabs, the best of the best will be looking to start the tournament strong and immediately deliver their top performances, for every lost point will be an extra hindrance in their way to the Grand Final and the bulk of the prize purse.

All in all, we are heading into a Quake Live event of huge proportions and we should see some very exciting games delivered to us through live streaming via either Level Up TV or ESL TV's two streams. Be sure to tune in whenever you can to be part of the Intel Extreme Masters Season 5 conclusion.
