ESPC Fall '11 - Introduction

With the European community looking heavily towards Eastern-Europe, where the MSI Grunex European LAN was being held, the Finnish community had prepared for another installment of the ESPC event, namely the Fall 2011 edition.

Some of the best teams in Finland decided to travel to Helsinki, Finland in order to participate and have a shot at winning their part of the €2,300 prize purse. A total of 16 teams were reported to travel to the event, but eventually, only nine showed up and played in the Group Stage and Playoffs.

One of the most noticeable absentees was the recently reformed Redlink team that is comprised for 60% out of the Phantasmagoria.fi team that managed a second place finish at the Helsinki COD Challenge a couple of months ago. Due to the fewer teams, the prize purse had fallen from an original €3,300 to one of €2,300.

In the end, the traditional teams managed to play their parts and roles well, even though the biggest surprise was definitely the rather unknown emohomo team that secured a fourth place finish, ahead of teams such as insidaz.
