Last September the Vita Nova crew set out to make a long-lasting and successful league system to give the top teams a place to congregate in a series of groups, and after a successful first season CyberGamer have made a return with their second instalment. The highest tier of the league, CyberGamer Invite will feature a €1,500 prize pot.
The first division, otherwise known as CyberGamer Invite, will feature the best twenty teams currently inhabiting the scene all battling it out not just to save themselves from relegation into CyberGamer Main, but also for the massive €1,500 prize pot. Each team will play two matches a week in a classic round robin-style over an eight week period, and will see the top three walk away with a chunk of the prize money. During the last season LowLandLions, now known as Western Wolves, took the top spot out from Phantasmagoria's grasp at the last moment, seeing TCM finishing in third place, the question is will trends continue and will they be able to take the glory another time around?
Alongside CGi the CyberGamer Main league will also run in parallel, seeing a reduced twenty four seasoned teams from across Europe battle it out for promotion. There is however added pressure in this division, seeing a faster pace in affect with teams competing within three official matches a week. The top three from this bracket will be taking the place of the bottom three finishers in CGi, and the lowest five being replaced from the top five teams in the CGa division.
With the league finishing during late March we are sure to have months of intense and fast paced competition ahead of us, and with the scheduled match days ahead of us chances are we'll see an ever increasing amount of coverage, not just here on TEK9 but also from a vast variety of broadcasting companies.
How The League Works
Within the CyberGamer Invite league a total of 20 teams will battle it out for first place over a total of 19 games spread out over an eight week period, the top three teams at the end of the competition will each receive a chunk of the prize fun with the lower three getting relegated.
Within the next tier, CyberGamer Main, 24 teams will compete within three official games with the aim of placing in the top three, granting them a promotion into CGi for the next season, with the bottom five getting relegated. This division will also run over an eight week period.
Finally there is CyberGamer Amateur, currently having no team capacity cap. The top five from this division will be promoted into CGm with the teams placing 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th playing for the fifth spot.
In both CGi and CGm six every team posses' six wildcards allowing them to re-schedule their games, with TZAC being mandatory in all sections.
