page 4: CoD4 - Sunday Recap
The i32 iSeries event hosted by Multiplay is as we all know, the first event to host a Call of Duty 4 offline LAN tournament just a day afters its release onto the European scene. Already we have kick started and gone into top gear with the action coming from both the groups, and the playoff stages that we are currently following. The double elimination tournament has been one to remember, and with the £3,000 prize purse available to the top four standings, we already have a fourth and third place standing taken.
4Kings takes the fourth place standing after their debut into the Call of Duty 4 scene after much speculation surrounding their line-up. With big named stars tipped to make it even bigger with 4Kings include former Check-6 player crow and former Team-Dignitas player palmz. With this fresh content returning to the scene and with the help of other well known players, 4Kings were expected to go far in the tournament. After losing out to Team CoolerMaster (10:13) in the upperbracket round three matches, 4Kings dropped to the lowerbracket where they would secure a (13:06) victory over diversity. This would move them onto the next round of the lowerbracket, the final. Pitted against TheLastResort who have recently returned to the Call of Duty scene themselves not so long, both teams have had their fair share of victories and defeats so far in the competition. But through a close game from both sides and moving into overtime, TheLastResort managed to take down 4Kings with a scorchingly close score of (16:14).
Next up the game that seperates the losers from the possible winners, the consolation final. The consolation round is always a great game and most of the time very close as teams try their best to break through to the finals instead of taking the downward route of settling for a third place standing. As explained above, TheLastResort got their ticket to the consolation finals after beating 4Kings in overtime. The side of LoOkzor, SoCLoN and co. will have to face off with Team CoolerMaster who have been on hot form throughout the competition so far. This speculation and description is pre-match of course, so onto the game itself. Again, very close and tight as the paws of each player sweat more and more trying their hardest to grab that last chance of a LAN victory. As strong as CoolerMaster have played though in the tournament, they lost out to TheLastResort by a couple of rounds, losing (07:13). Great news for TheLastResort guys as they head into the finals to face Team-Dignitas, reigning champions of the Call of Duty 2 tournament. Can they keep it up? Check back with TeK-9 for all the latest at i32!
