Adroits CoD Masters – Travel Guide

In order to promote the event as much as possible, I've made a little travel guide for everyone. The venue will be the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, Netherlands, which has been host to a lot of COD4 events in the past so I expect most of you are familiar with the place! But, a lot of you won’t be, so I’ve tried to take the CiC7 travel guide kindly created by Camiel "jetset" Rietbergen and make a more up to date version.

The WZZRD Gaming Center is located at the ground floor of the CineStar cinema (www.cinestar.nl) in Enschede, the Netherlands. The center is easily accessible by train, with the Enschede Drienerlo station a short walk away. Beware that Enschede has two train stations, “Enschede Drienerlo” and “Enschede”, of which the “Enschede” brings you to the city centre which isn’t where you want to be!

On your way to the LAN and across the street of the CineStar building, you can find the football stadium of FC Twente! Below is a map of the location:

Flying

Of course I can't list all of the countries in Europe, but I've tried to at least give you a rough price of how much it will be costing you to fly over to the Netherlands. The website I've used is Sky Scanner which some people may have already heard of, there are a few other websites around to search through cheap flights, but anyway, if you're lazy like me here is a few links to check how much flights might be for you!

Note that all flights are to Amsterdam, simply change Amsterdam in the search at the top to Netherlands to see other airports.

France http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDFR
Denmark http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDDK
Belgium http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDBE
Czech Republic http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDCZ
Poland http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDPL
Italy http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDIT
Germany http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDDE
Croatia http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDHR
United Kingdom http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDUK
Hungary http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDHU
Sweden http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDSE
Finland http://tinyurl.com/AdroitsCoDFI

Another website I found while on browsing cheap flights was http://www.momondo.com/ which could also be useful to some of you if you're not a fan of Sky Scanner.

Now you may be wondering how do you get to Enschede once you touch down at one of the airports within the Netherlands (or Germany in one case), well let's take a look:

*Please note that for your journey back from the tournament (or to the tournament if you're getting there incredibly early!) most trains in the Netherlands start working at 5am. *

From Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) to WZZRD Enschede

The Schiphol Airport is located in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, and is by far the biggest and most well known airport in the Netherlands and all major carriers will go there (with the exception of a few low cost carriers like Ryanair, who avoid it due to the high cost).

What sets this airport apart from the others listed below, except for its size, is the availability of a train station at the airport. The Schiphol train station (not to be confused with the Amsterdam Central station) is roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes away from Enschede Drienerlo by train and leaves every 30 minutes during the day, with the last train leaving at 22:49CET. You have to switch trains once or twice, depending on which train you take.

Website: www.schiphol.nl

From Eindhoven Airport to WZZRD Enschede

Ryanair does not to fly to Amsterdam, but they do land at Eindhoven Airport, in the south of the Netherlands. The airport is relatively small compared to Schiphol and does not have a train station. However, during the day, a bus will depart from the airport to Eindhoven Central train station every 10 minutes Monday – Friday, every 15 minutes Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sunday. From the Central Station you can reach Enschede by train.

It takes approximately 2 hours 35-55 minutes, depending on which train you take, and you have to switch trains 2-3 times. The trains go every 30 minutes during the day.

Website: www.eindhovenairport.com

From Rotterdam Airport to WZZRD Enschede

The Rotterdam Airport is similar to Eindhoven in a way that it's a lot smaller than the Amsterdam Airport, there is no train station at the airport and the time it takes from the Rotterdam Central Station to Enschede is almost exactly the same.

There is a regular bus service from the Rotterdam Airport to the Rotterdam Central Station, which can be found on their website. From the Rotterdam Central Station, it's a 2 hours 30 minutes trip to Enschede (you have to switch trains twice), which leaves every 30 minutes during the day.

Website: www.rotterdam-airport.nl

From Weeze Airport (Germany) to WZZRD Enschede

An alternative to the Dutch airports is the German airport "Weeze" (just across the border with the Netherlands), which is one of the airports a low cost carrier like Ryanair uses. The Weeze airport is approximately 85km from Enschede by car and would require you to take a taxi (as far as I know)

Website: www.airport-weeze.de

The trains should be no more than €20-25 per person one way or no more than €35-40 per person for a return ticket, but please keep in mind a return ticket is can only be bought for the same day, there are weekend return tickets but for this event it is more than likely you will have to buy 2 single tickets, I'm afraid! For more information check out the following website:http://ns.nl/en This will give you an exact price for whatever journey you want, simple!

Car

In case you plan to travel to the Netherlands by car, navigation software would definitely help! The address of the WZZRD Gaming Centre in Enschede is as follows:

WZZRD Enschede/CineStar
Colosseum 60
7500 BC Enschede
TEL: +31 53 8504759
E-mail: jelle[at]wzzrd[dot]nl

France From Paris, France, it is approximately 600km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 6 hours, 15 minutes without traffic jams.
Denmark From Copenhagen, Denmark, it is approximately 650km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 7 hours without traffic jams.
Belgium From Antwerp, Belgium, it is approximately 250km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 2 hours, 45 minutes without traffic jams.
Czech Republic From Prague, Czech Republic, it is approximately 735km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 7 hours without traffic jams.
Poland From Warsaw, Poland, it is approximately 1,065km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 11-12 hours without traffic jams.
Italy From Rome, Italy, it is approximately 1,600 km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 14-15 hours without traffic jams.
Germany From Berlin, Germany, it is approximately 515km (depending on the route) to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 5 hours without traffic jams.
Croatia From Zagreb, Croatia, it is approximately 1250km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 11-12 hours without traffic jams.
United Kingdom From London, United Kingdom, it is approximately 630km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 7 hours without traffic jams.
Hungary From Budapest, Hungary, it is approximately 1,260km to the WZZRD Gaming Center in Enschede, the Netherlands and would take about 11-12 hours without traffic jams.

Please note that these numbers are rounded off to give an approximation and are taken from Google Maps!

Accommodation

Having been to Enschede myself for an event, and hearing the thousands of stories people have told from pervious Crossfire events, I'll try and give a realistic review of each hotel available.

The first two places are the nearby Huts and the Logica Hotel, both of which you can book through WZZRD in order to take advantage of their discount rates. Simply follow this link http://www.wzzrd.nl/page/18/Enschede and scroll down to the accommodation section; you will notice a "book now" button which will give you further instructions on how to book either of them.

Huts

The first place listed is described by WZZRD as the budget option, and most people who have stayed in the huts will tell you it's quite a good laugh staying in them, but at the same time, you can't beat waking up at 7am and taking a cold shower right? Either way, a bed is a bed and at a very cheap cost you can't go wrong. For 1 person it is €20 a night, but what most people have done in the past is book an entire room which would be a hut with room for 15 people to sleep an cost €250 a night. Beware you may need to bring a sleeping bag for this hotel!

Logica Hotel

The second place described as the comfort option this time by WZZRD is the Logica Hotel, where a single room is €41 a night and a double room is €58 a night, I myself have never stayed here but as far as hotels goes it’s still pretty cheap. Both this and the huts are a 15 minute walk from WZZRD.

Now if you want to splash out a lot more cash, there is the nearby Eden Hotel De Broeierd, which is a lot closer than the other hotels but at the same time, it will set you back over €1000!

In addition, it is also possible to stay in the city center of Enschede (have a look at sites such as Booking.com) or Hengelo (if you have a car, it's under 5 minutes driving). There is a train connection between the Enschede Drienerlo Station and the Enschede Central Station, which costs around €2 for a one way ticket and takes approximately five minutes. The train leaves every 30 minutes, from early in the morning until around 1am at night.

Big thank you to Declan "germaine" Elcocks for creating this updated version of jetset's original Guide to Enschede, The Netherlands.

Notice that you need to walk around the building (left side) to get to the LAN Center, often they close the door so you can not enter via Cine Star.

When you go for the huts make sure you mention that you want to stay with other teams in one hut otherwise they will give you a 15person hut for 5 people and charge you for it

Eden Hotel, 2 person room; 3 nights; €187,50

Granted, it's twice as much as the Logica, but it sleeps so well.

Then again, it's not like you're going to be spending any time awake at your hotel anyway.

would like to add particularly for uk flyers from gatwick etc that if you fly with Easyjet and ask for a flyer you get a discount from europcar..this can mean you can take a car and actually get there cheaper with the convenience of having a way of getting about then if you take 5x trains amstadam->enschede .. bare in mind it was around 220euros with satnav included but did include a 400euro deposit (considering they let us have a 1.6bravo or something and none of us were 23 [as you should be by law] not bad lol afaik returned on return of the car <check with intl> )

just another option to consider from cc7 experiences :)

Can now confirm that the huts are not available. Also, if you're booking the Logica, please book it via the Logica directly and NOT via Jelle at WZZRD.

dont go to huts unless u want to wakeup when the sun is shining through the holes in walls / u want a common toilet that is shared between all the huts and is literally full of shit. Also if u want some maniacs trying to get inside ur hut it's a considerable choice =)

edit: Oh, the huts arent available lol
