Special thanks to Jamie "z1no" Bach for his help.
As promised, we've decided to provide everyone with an overview of the possible ways to get to the DSRack LAN event, what it costs and list some of the accomodations close to the event.
The DSRack LAN is set to take place in the Kroegers House, 4.5 KM from the Copenhagen Airport and in close promixity of the Tårnby train station. Kroegers House is located at the Englandsvej 337-339 in Kastrup, right next to the Zleep Hotel Airport, which can be found on page 2 under the accomodation alternatives.
Assuming there are no delays during the Call of Duty 4 competition, the tournament is expected to end at around 01:00 CET on Wednesday the 20th of October. The official tournament schedule can be found
HERE.
A map of the location:
FlyingCopenhagen Airport at KastrupThe Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup is located approximately 4.5 KM from the event location: Kroegers House. The Copenhagen Airport is the biggest airport in the country and most major carriers go there. Carriers such as Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Lufthansa have very regular flights to Copenhagen, but are in most cases not the cheapest alternative.
Norwegian airlines are often not that expensive, but we would really advice everyone to have a look around at sites such as
Expedia.com, since the prizes vary a lot from country to country and an expensive carrier for some could be one of the cheaper alternatives for others. Ryanair lands at both Aarhus and Billund, but both are approximately 3 hours from Copenhagen by car. So, if you're planning to rent a car and are looking for alternative airports, it might be an idea to look at flights going to Malmö, Sweden, which is located 40 km from Copenhagen.
If you are looking to fly from Amsterdam to Copenhagen: KLM are having a sale in the coming days and tickets cost 139 euro (departure: October 17th, return: October 20th). A return ticket from London to Copenhagen currently costs 98 euro (excluding baggage costs) with Easyjet. A return ticket from Paris to Copenhagen is slightly more expensive and costs 105 euro with Air France.
For any type of public transport, have a look at
Rejseplanen.dk, which is available in English. It allows you to get a good idea of the types of transport available, the schedule and how long it takes for you to arrive at your destination. In Denmark they make use of zones. The area is divided into zones and depending on the destination (Copenhagen Airport to the Copenhagen City Centre = 3 zones), you can use any kind of public transport (bus, metro, train) for the same price.
3 zones will cost you 34.50 Danish Krone, which is approximately €4,60. Each ticket is valid for 1 to 2 hours (depending on amount of zones) and you can use them on every type of public transport within the timelimit.
By TaxiThe most convenient way to get to the event is by taxi. Besides car rental, which is available at the airport, taxi's are located outside of the airport (just follow the signs) and should not cost you more than €20 to get to the Kroegers House (it's an 8 minute drive).
By BusBus 36 stops at Tårnby Kirke, close to the event. Busses leave outside the airport up to 3 times an hour and take around 17 minutes. For more information:
Rejseplanen.dk.
By TrainThe cheapest alternative, other than going by foot (35-45 minute walk) is by taking the train. Every 10 minutes, a train leaves from the Copenhagen Airport to the Tårnby station, which is located in close promixity of the Kroegers House (see the picture above). It is just one stop and costs €3 per person.
By MetroThe metro is NOT an option to travel to the event location. However, it is an easy and fast way to travel to the city centre (in case you want to go sightseeing or go out). The Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup is located 8 KM south of the City Centre and from the airport metro station it will take you 12-15 minutes to get to the centre of Copenhagen. One way tickets can be purchased at the metro stations and will cost around €4,60. Metro's to the city centre leave every 6 minutes.
CarIn case you plan to travel to Denmark by car, navigation software would definately help! The address of the event is:
