What can we do for this community, thats the question that goes through my mind on a regular basis, and if your the same as me, then this is the article for you. Over the next few pages I will be conducting interviews with some great people about possible opportunities to assist the COD4 effort, exploring ideas of my own and hopefully inspiring some creations of your own.
To kick us off one of COD4’s main figure heads, Adam “Vanner” Vanner. He’s managed to spare a couple minutes of his time to answer a few questions I’m sure more than a few are eager to hear:
What would you say Vita Nova is lacking at the moment in terms of community support? Local teams attending local lan events (Croatian and Denmark communities are prime examples), good articles about the game itself, good frag movies/media.
Are there any opportunities from your perspective that you feel haven’t been explored to their fullest? Tek9s coverage could be a lot better, you look at when durus used to run Cadreds CoD4 coverage and it was simply brilliant, Tek9 really need to improve their coverage of online tournaments to be honest. Promod is being worked on so I can't really comment on that and streaming is also being worked on.
Do you feel that there are more roles in Vita Nova to fill, whether they be existing roles in need of expansion or roles to come up in the future? League admins are required and are currently being recruited by Bobert, bar that we're not looking for new people particularly, we're focusing on what we've got for now.
We know vita nova are working with NGTV UK currently, but do you think that a Vita Nova Broadcasting Team, perhaps even their own broadcasting organization could be a possible solution? The partnership with NGTV is crucial as H2KTV have seemingly stopped providing coverage and with no Quadv casts of late there is a huge gap in the media market for the English speaking people (99% of the scene). We're delighted to have provided a filler for that gap and who knows what the future holds.
A lot of lans all across europe call on volunteers to make their events happen, will this be the case in regards to the UK VN lan held this october, and if so, where can people find out more information on this in the future? If people want to lend a hand and/or get involved as an event admin then contact either myself or Rob 'Morg' Black, any help is great and would be greatly appreciated.
Thats about it, finally is there anything else that you feel i’ve missed out that people could look into contributing towards? Look, if anyone wants to contribute in anyway then just go for it, don't come to me asking for permission, just do it! Make your frag movies, host your servers, make your own streaming companies, write your own articles, just go for it and enjoy what you do.
Really good read Peter, and a very important message you brought forth in this article; it's not just the community heads or Vita-Nova guys who have a say in anything, as long as anyone has the passion and drive to try their luck on anything, be it Newswriting or Shoutcasting, go for it and never look back! Some people getting recruited to this will in turn make it a more promising industry so to speak, and will in turn get more people engaged in said activities.
The moral of the story being, if you want to try your hands on something, do it! Worst thing that can happen is that you spend a few hours on something that doesn't really play out the right way for you, but at least you've spent those hours trying to help the community somehow instead of trolling threads on Tek-9 titled "omg youtube vid, sick gaize!".
Are you actually saying you aren't good at writing? This was class. Really well written and a very very good read, maybe even the best article on tek-9 I've read so far. Great examples to get involved with the community and really inspiring.
You know what, I'm gonna add you as soon as you add your contact details :P
Now, with you being one of the “recognized” e-sports news writers out there I was hoping you could give a few tips on how best to get started.
I’m not an expert of course
Nice read, shame I can't do much with just a laptop that doesn't run call of duty 4, anyway if you lads need someone regarding event management hit me up. :)

What can I do for the community? I can teach you how to use the spellcheck tool or point you in the direction of an English teacher. xDxDDxDDxDXD:ppppppPPPpPPPP
I don't understand what I spelt incorrectly there? Could you point it out for me please. I used pages spelling checker and it was read through by somebody else before hand.

I'd say bait taken, but I just like being grammatically correct :S Have I hit some sort of nerve I don't understand, I'm merely a small boy in a lonely world looking for articles I can read without anger.
i want reads this article for enjoyment, but english grasp is so awful i am unsure of its content. this is confusing for myself, my friends and others may whom read.
I laughed at the picture of odyx screaming at his monitor. GJ man, just need to get this kind of positive movement in less developed scenes like Malaysia and the North American scene. From what I've heard of the Malaysian scene, its pretty much the same as the NA one, just a couple teams that are constantly winning the events (Loaded/Pure for NA), very few lans (NA has had 2 lans since the beginning of 2010, and had 2 or so cancelled cause lack of attendees), and just the overall feeling of the game being dead.
Thanks man. I've got another one in the pipeline that I'm really excited about, aiming to get it done in around 2 months time. Just got a few uni commitments at the moment.

"There are going to be a few unfortunate few who can’t attend lans internationally"
u missed: thats = that's (that is)
and few unfortunate few is a crap phrase, not technically wrong but!
"There are going to be a few unfortunate few who can’t attend lans internationally"
"few unfortunate few" is just bad English.

? agree or
The second sentence was intended to be "There is", so There's is correct. Maybe its because I'm from Derbyshire, but that seems fine to me :)
