“Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity” - George S. Patton Although a man of war and a general in the allied army (made famous by the tank named after him) General Patton understood one thing quite clearly: people. He indicates it here with this quote that you always get the best results in the long run if you manage people correctly. Realize the potential and give everyone the chance to prove themselves to you by giving them the freedom to give it a go. To make their own mistakes and follow their own path.
“An original idea. That can't be too hard. The library must be full of them” - Stephen Fry
This quote has two edges to it for me. First of all I think it perfectly indicates that you don’t have to invent the wheel over and over again. Secondly it tells me that a vast amount of knowledge is already available in the world and you would be a fool not to consult it. Bring that knowledge in together with your own thoughts and something fantastic is bound to come from it.
And here are some random quotes I came across which I liked as well:
“Common sense is not so common” – Voltaire
“Imagination rules the world” - Napoleon Bonaparte
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work” - Thomas A. Edison
“The harder I work, the luckier I get” - Samuel Goldwyn
“That which does not kill us makes us stronger” - Friedrich Nietzsche
“I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not” - Kurt Cobain
Feel free to add the quotes that have influenced you in the comments and tell them why they are so important to you. Also feel free to follow me on Twitter if you want to stay up to date with the latest happenings in eSports, get random quote from time to time and get a little bit behind the scenes of Esports Heaven and TEK9. http://www.twitter.com/stevenleunens
The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they don't know the game.

Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that
Bill Shankly said:
A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe that you are the best and then make sure that you are. In my time at Liverpool we always said we had the best two teams in Merseyside, Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing.
You can't translate that, the thing that is so great about that comment is because its so simple being said like that.
When you translate it, it loses its "power".
for me it got no power in dutch either.. sounds exactly same in nl/eng
cruijff overrated faggot who thinks he's everything ;D
if you actually listen to what he says it's all mostly pure crap
I love quotes, i have loads on my website that i like, won't post them all but here are some of my favourites.
Power is when you have every justification to crush someone, and then you don't
If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.
Thank you. Think about it.
What would happen if people had to get a fully public background check before they were allowed to criticize others ?
(the above quotes were actually from LLCoolJ's twiitter account - no idea if they are his or other peoples quotes)
"The world is a looking-glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. Frown at it, and it will in turn look sourly upon you; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly kind companion." Thackeray, Vanity Fair
“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” Kahil Gibran
“joy and sorrow are inseparable, together they come and when one sits alone with you, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.” Kahil Gibran
Work like you don't need the money, dance like no one is watching, love like you have never been hurt.
But my all time fav is this one - "The greatest part of our happiness, depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances" Martha Washington
"it doesn't matter that people talk about me in a good or bad way, the thing that matter is that they talk about me"
doesn't know from who it is But I really like this one cuz it mean somehow people are attracted by the things you do and means your somebody instead of being a nobody !
No really, that quote is from someone who is both insecure and egotistical - saying something like that comes from someone who is trying to defend the fact that they know they are not widely liked, but try and make out they dont care, when in actual fact they do.
@bakerzji, in theory yeah you're right, but the sentiment behind the statement would never be true, no one wants to be criticised in a negative way (assuming they are not a sociopath, in which case read below).
@Leo A sociopath may well mean something like that, but generally a sociopath doesn't feel the need to justify anything, to anyone, therefore their answer would be far shorter & thus not engender a statement that attempts to justify why they do not care if they are talked about in a good way, or a bad way (in this case "the thing that matter is that they talk about me" would be considered justification). If we assume that the statement is an answer to a question, as opposed to a generalised statement, there is still an attempt at justification. Whenever someone attempts to justify what they are saying, it generally implies that there is a cause for not believing what is being said. Take liars for example, a bad liar will over compensate in their given excuse, in an attempt to make it appear believable, this situation would be the same. Basically, the first part of the sentence is fine, and had it been left at that would be an example coming from a possible sociopath, but the second part of the sentence undermines the sentiment of the first "I DONT care that people talk about me" met with "It MATTERS that people talk about me" that isnt a person who doesn't care what is being said about them, it is two statements completely contradicting each other.
@knaller for someone with such a 'brilliant mind', as has been suggested by others, you sure do come out with some shit sometimes.
well i translated it from french into english so maybe it's loosing a bit of its sens.
But the other way around is : don't lame/flame someone just to make fun of someone because he couldn't care less or he does it in purpose like that people will talk about him !
eg take a look at madonna, britney spears or what ever "stars" who does stupid things in order to get some attention !

Then why call him God?” - Epicurus
