These are movies that will set your pulse racing, make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and get you in the mood to... frag. We're not claiming that the six movies showcased here are definitively the best Quake movies ever made and, although some of them do fit in that category, the point of this article is to provide an introduction for newcomers and a nostalgic reminder for old schoolers of some of the truly amazing productions we've seen released over the past decade.

1. AnnihilatioN
Release Date: June 2003 Produced by: own-age Starring: cooller, czm, fox, unkind, zero4 and more (TEK9 Cinema Link)
"I think that this is the best fragmovie Quake III Arena has ever had". The words of Michal "Carmac" Blicharz upon the release of the sensation that was "Annihilation". From the impossible frags to the pumping soundtrack, this is an old school classic that can still hang with the best movies around. Featuring the finest players from all over the world, "Annihilation" raised the bar for every Quake movie released since.
Although its age is beginning to show in some of the editing (the weird acid trip, the tv thing?), the quality of the footage has more than stood the test of time and showcases some of the best from what was truly a golden age for Quake 3. All the big names are there and, as was said even at its release, it's the frags that make this movie and boy do they deliver. A tour de force from start to finish, this movie is the perfect place to start for this trip down memory lane.
2. CPMA Done by Vo0
Release Date: January 2004 Produced by: vo0 Starring: vo0 (TEK9 Cinema Link)
The visuals and the editing may be basic but this gritty fragfest does exactly what it says on the tin, taking you through a masterclass of prediction rockets, out of this world reflex rails and silky movement skills from one of the finest deathmatch players around. More famous now for his Painkiller exploits, it's easy to forget Sander "voO" Kaasjager's prodigious Quake talent but this movie provides all the reminder you'll need.
Filled with a selection of great 1v1 scenes from CPM3a and other classics, "CPMA by Vo0" also showcases a number of impressive TDM scenes where the eponymous star goes 1v4 in a series of astounding clips. The music fits well with the fast paced action, kicking off with Rammstein's dramatic "Mein Herz Brennt" and keeping you immersed in the action throughout. While it may lack the polished feel of today's releases, this five year old production is a must see for anyone who appreciates the enjoyment of rocketing an opponent into the air, railing him in the face and pulling out your lightning gun for an efficient conversion.

Good selection of movies there I personally wouldn't have put cpma done by voO 2nd however, but I suppose everyones got different tastes. Annihilation definitely deserved top spot for obvious reasons and good to see get quaked 3 in there although I think it should have been placed higher :p

defrag servers use no kind of anti-cheat software such as punkbuster. w3sp lets NOBODY spec, ever. his hack includes monitoring of specs the second you follow him he will spectate and rejoin. w3sp failed to submit demos of many of his dfwc2008 runs the demos that do exist are fishy to say the least, the outro run was most likely entirely scripted

w3sp plays defrag for 6 years now, he is talented at the piano, his runs are not perfect and are usually world records because he takes faster paths, there is no proof that he bots/scripts/timescaled his runs. The only thing that might be suspicious is the fact that he doesnt let other people spec him, but maybe he gets nervous and starts missing his jumps?Also most of the top players that people think do hack (ono, jetleck, paradox on cod, fury on cs, walter on quake) are usually clean.

About the w3sp thing he really has used "cheat" methods (although no one knows how often) and is a huge, HUGE, asshole. Other than that don't know, don't want to know.
But list is good! Missing some of my personal favorites but I understand why these were chosen. Haven't actually even seen Requiem For Demos, gonna check it out right now.

Quake 3 has two sets of movement, vq3 and cpm. vq3 is the default quake 3 engine movement, so its basically the same feel that u get on cod for instance, except that quake is obviously faster. cpm was created by the CPMA mod, which introduced a mix of vq3 movement with QuakeWorld (aircontrol bunnyhop) and Quake 2 movement (double jumps), resulting in a slightly faster and more "free" movement. w3sp is the best cpm defragger (as far as i know) and most of his runs are on cpm, but there are a couple of vq3 runs aswell in both of his movies.

Do you have a regular quake 3 client but no cdkey or do you use no-ghost or w/e its called? If you have the first, make sure u have the 1.32 patch installed, then download CPMA 1.47 ( www.promode.ru/files/cpma147-nomaps.zip ) and the CPMA mappack ( challenge-tv.com/index_old.php?mode=filedetail&file=185), unzip the cpma folder to where quake 3 is installed, and unzip the maps to your baseq3 folder. If you dont have a original cdkey, just enter a bunch of 2's when it asks you (like 22222222222222, and it should work). You can only play on non-pb servers with that cdkey since its banned, so u might aswell download the CNQ3 client ( files.filefront.com/ChallengeQuake3+143zip/;11591414;/fileinfo.html ), which automatically launches the CPMA mod and is slightly better than the default quake3.exe, but regrettably it doesnt support PB.
