SAGE: Interview Myles "myzz" Cahill - 1/2

Whilst we were waiting for the Enemy Territory tournament to finish, to work away some of the delays that had occured the night before and that continued on into the next morning, I took the liberty of asking Myles "myzz" Cahill some questions about both general events, his view on the group and arguably the strongest opponents: Anexis eSports and Next Evolution.

- Hey Myles...So Epsilon have finally gone to LAN. Was about time, right? Could you quickly recap all the problems your line-up have had in the organisations you joined and getting to events since the days of PLAYZONE and PLAYON?

Myzz: Ehm ye, in PLAYZONE they basically offered us a lot of support, but when it came to LAN time, they all vanished, all the managers. And we never heard from them, so we left that org and ehm even before that, we joined PLAYON, a Portuguese org and they did the same thing, they offered us lots of support and then did not provide it. Then we joined clan virus for a few days, because they offered full support. Then they said maybe we won't and then they said, ye well maybe we will and then again we won't and then we had enough of it and we left.

- And if I remember correctly, the clan viRus thing was based on some decision by clan viRus that they did not want to take in FPS anymore?

Myzz: Ye ye, they did not want any more FPS game and then the manager in charge of FPS games quit and then we left and they started calling us unprofessional, because of all that.

-And more recently?

Myzz: Well recently we joined Epsilon-eSports...

- Well before that, you did have the suXus thing.

Myzz: Ah ye, suXus...they said that they'd 100% pay for all of Outpost on Fire. So me and Sanjay paid for our ticket to get a slot into OOF and then it ended up with the manager [of suXus] not being around for a couple of weeks. He then said they would not pay for the event, but offered to pay back the money we invested within one week 100%. We then waited 2 weeks for our money, they did not pay and we had enough and left them as well. So it ended up with me and Sanjay losing about £150 each.

- Your line-up has also seen its fair share of changes, was it that hard to keep the group together?

Myzz: Firstly GREG, we couldn't get full support and he did not have the means to support himself either, so if we wanted to go to LAN, we had to get rid of him. And then Rezet quit of university, he did not have enough time to practise. Then we had makke & gnarly. Makke, we found out was trialing for TCM...behind our back and it seems he is quite the baiter, seeing as he has done the same to TCM as well. Then mark & gnarly: when we could not get support for Outpost on Fire, we all kinda lost motivation. Mark had an offer from Team WinFakt! and we had the offer from Antwerp Aces, for me and Sanjay to join them. So we all kind of went our separate ways, but all on good terms.

- So how did that offer came to be, between Aces and yourself? Did you guys know each other already or was it just some random series of events?

Myzz: Well me and Sanjay had actually asked Dimi, [delroo] and VATO quite a few times for them to join us. They were waiting for their team to do badly on LAN, so they had a good excuse to leave their two shit AK47s and then it kinda came about at the right timing. They wanted to get rid of their AK47s and we were looking to join. We played a few games and everyone got on quite well, so it was easy.

- How did you end up playing with Sanjay "caesiuM" Gambhir so intensely, do you guys simply click or did it just unknowingly always happen that you were the only two remaining in each team?

Myzz: A little bit of just us being the two remaining, but we also get on quite well. I mean, we do argue quite a lot online, but at the same time we balance each other out quite well, we know each other's strengths and weaknesses. We do go quite well together.

- Do you feel you have become a stronger team, both individually as well as one a communicative/teamplay level? What's different this time?

Myzz: I do feel that this team is a lot stronger than the previous ones. The two Finnish guys in the last team did not quite get on with the rest of it and to be honest, it wasn't really that much fun playing with them. The atmosphere wasn't great and everyone was just a bit emo most of the time. But with this team, the atmosphere is a lot better, we get along a lot better and I think that makes us a stronger team.

- Who would you call as your stand-out players, the players that get you the frags and rounds or don’t you focus on having particular players roam around?

Myzz: Well, the most consistent fragger is probably delroo I think and the least consistent fragger is probably VATO [VATO standing behind him during the interview]. Darnall can be good, it depends on what his mood is like. If he’s emo he isn’t that good, but if he’s on his game, he is really good.

- If you could, how would you describe your team in a few key words?

Myzz: keen, dedicated, motivated and consistent

- So if you say that, how has your preparation been? Have you been spending all your evenings the last few weeks or are you a team that rarely practises and still does well?

Myzz: We have been playing quite a lot actually, the last week we have been doing one map per night and running through all the little tweaks and things to make them work better. Making sure everything is done properly. Right now we are pretty happy with how we play the maps and how we have been playing right now.

- It does appear to pay off, as you guys have seemingly got onto another level as of late, what do you expect from your group and this event in general?

Myzz: I think if we play well, we can definitely beat Next Evolution, the old Power, and our aim really is apart from Anexis and Next Evolution, we think we can beat everyone else. I mean, even those, if we play well, we could take them down as well. TOP3 is definitely our aim for this event.
