Few people expected Phan to come this far, and with them being an unknown entity how were you guys feeling entering the Grand Final?
Good, we were feeling good. We had only three hours sleep which for our standards is pretty good but never the less we were feeling confident.
The first round saw germaine left alone, isolated in that Kebab area finally falling giving Phan the first round, then seeing you lose another consecutively. How did this affect your confidence?
Erm. It didn’t affect my confidence, it felt like their whole tactic was to isolate me in café so I couldn’t stop the bomb planter which is what I kept doing to them in the playoffs.
What was going through your minds and coms when you found yourselves repeatedly falling prone the Phan offensive?
They played well on attack and we couldn’t seem to stop them. We tried multiple strats and nothing worked, it didn’t help that it was our home map so we were slightly overconfident entering the final.
Froster in the fourth round managed to huge for your team, grabbing four kills and managing to secure your first round. You must have been overjoyed to destroy the Phan momentum, but how did this translate into your later gameplay?
It’s always good to get the first round on the board so obviously translated into building some momentum for ourselves.
In the 10th round Robonz was a thorn in your side on that A building, what was it that made him so elusive?
I would have said that when you have two of the SMG’s playing against each other at A it can always come down to a lot of luck on some rounds, like I don’t think lubo was doing anything bad or wrong at A but he just kept loosing those 50/50 moments.
Aimed at you Germaine this time, you seemed to struggle through the first half, only managing to land three frags. Was it the early morning or something deeper and more profound?
They had two AK’s both at A/light area watching onto café so I couldn’t peek onto the street. Ono was also hanging around L bend for literally half the round so I couldn’t peek toward L bend either. So I either had to prone and die anyway because they would take B alley or just go A like I did the last few rounds. But while I got a few kills from A it also meant that we didn’t have anyone wallbanging the bomb so they could plant really easily. It was smart.
Later on in the first map you found yourselves facing a 10-5 score line in Phan’s favour, this couldn’t have given you guys that warm fuzzy feeling. What was going to wrong?
In general it took too long to get the first round, and once you’re in that situation it’s hard to pull it back. Our comms were shaky during the first map as well and it took too long to build up some momentum.
After winning 13-5 on strike during the playoffs what made you choose mp_citystreets as your map of choice. Are you crazy?
We were on attack in the previous map 9-0 up, and we lost three rounds in a row. It was then that it dawned on us that they had strats on that map so we just got lucky during the first game. Looking at their later games they played it to great success in the lower brackets, showing that they would be prepared for our game if we picked strike.
Eating my words here now you seemed to be so potent on mp_citystreets, finding yourself 8 rounds in only conceding four rounds. What was the key to your success?
We just stayed focus, we played every round like it was match point. We got a lot of opening frags with scope and nades which helped a great deal, apart from that we just played well as a team and it showed.
Well played guys, anything last you would like to share?
