Insomnia44: Diabulus Mid-Game Catch Up - Interview

Diabulus, previously known as theBIG were picked up by there recently found org after recent online success. They are now at the Insomnia44 event, battling their way through the playoff stages of the event, where they will place is anyone's guess. But one thing is for sure, with seasoned veteran James "sh0x" Mullis at the helm the only way is up for this young and up-coming team.

I managed to catch them for a brief interview after their first round defeat during the playoffs; you can find the interview below.

So, Diabulus. With you being a localized team stemming from the UK you might not be so well known to the greater community. With this is mind would you like to let the readers know a little about yourselves?

Well me (sentty) and nasty are brothers. We met sh0x online, and, well my brother was in a line-up with him before so we got along well. Honesi was a friend of ours as well, obviously with us all being mates it works out well and you can see it in our game this weekend.

We just want to progress and this is our first stepping stone. Obviously we aim to get out of the country to some major EU events and maybe epic.LAN in Febuary.

How have you been finding the event so far? Has it lived up to expectations or has it been somewhat lacklustre?

I’ve really enjoyed it; it’s been my first event. Obviously James has been before but we’ve loved the venue. So ye, it’s been really good and a great experience for us. If we can just now push through the lower brackets then the LAN will just get so much better.

You guys managed to fight your way through the groups managing to finish in a relatively disappointing 4^th place, seeing you face off against Dignitas during the Upper Bracket Round 1. How did you feel going into this game? Apprehensive perhaps?

Ye we were worried, but at the same time we had nothing to lose so we were neither worried nor happy. Either way was a win-win, if we lost it wouldn’t be disappointing, but if we won we would defy all expectations. In the end we didn’t do too badly…

Your game wasn’t the white wash many would perhaps expect, seeing you guys loose to a respectable 13-8 score line. Were they playing to their full potential or were you just the salt to their slug?

Well I don’t know, I’d like to think they were doing their best but in all honesty I think they were fairly complacent. It was close, and they weren’t running around with m14’s so we’re going to call it a strong indicator of things to come.

So we see you guys dropping down to the lower bracket now, seeing you guys face off against saemix. Is that a game you feel you can win, or are you trembling with worry?

I defiantly think we can win it, defiantly if we can get it on one of our favourite maps. Without a doubt we can give them a run for their money, and there is a bit of inter team rivalry and it’s a game we can’t wait to get into.
