Insomnia43: Your Travel Guide - Introduction & Air

Posted by Peter ptER Mather on 2011-06-08 20:09:16

Within this detailed guide I am going to aim to try and create a article that should hopefully give the majority of the European and Local teams a starting point, which should in turn allow them to begin planning their journey to the UK's Largest LAN event, Insomnia43.

This year’s summer installment of the Insomnia Series is due to take place at the highly accessible, central location of Telford, at the International Center. It has a whole host of travel links ranging from the M6, which strikes through the heart of the nation, the Telford Central Rail Station and an amazing three Airports all within an hour drive!

Over the next few pages I hope to bring to light the cheapest and most effective ways to utilize these travel links to allow you and your team/community to get to the event in the most efficient way possible.
The LAN event itself is within range of an impressive three airports, the Birmingham International Airport which is less than an hour away by car, the East Midlands Airport which is a touch further followed up by Manchester Airport which is just over an hour and a half from the venue. All the airports have coach links with Telford which is handy for those who chose to take this adventurous option of getting to the event.

Birmingham International Airport

The airport was originally founded in the 1930s and is currently celebrating it's 70th anniversary since it's first flight in 1939, over the years the airport has gone from strength to strength to become the "Midlands gateway to the world and position of regional pride".

The airport is situated just 50minutes south east of Telford, making it an easily accessible airport for all those who wish to fly into the event. For those that wish to take the National Express coach service from this airport to Telford a return ticket costs a meagre £13.10.
